I think we all need to calm down. There’s a lot more football to play. 1989 Illini got throttled at Colorado but won 10 games that year. Ron Turner’s 3-3 Illini finished with 8 wins and road wins at scUM and tOSU.

Bert is a great coach. He’ll right the ship.

I hope so, but 2 positive examples in 40 years doesn't give me a ton of confidence.

I think Fox just tried to beat Gameday to the punch, then Gameday jumped in anyway. Very odd move considering the game is on ESPN, curious if they both go to Eugene the following week.

Doubt they go to Eugene they following week. They have games like Florida State/Clemson and Ohio State/Notre Dame (which is probably the likely destination honestly) that week.

May I suggest a running identity? For the sake of our defense, and Luke's neck.
That's the problem we have not shown we have a running game, nor the Oline to establish one. I feel for Luke at this point he's not gonna last 5 games being our leading rusher. Plus, at some point he will start seeing ghost and it will destroy his passing game! I'm shocked with our Oline. I thought we had 3 starters and a 4th man who played a ton of snaps last year returning?
Our Defense is a wreck right now and I simply don't get it with our front 6 or 7 depending on the defensive alignment called. After looking at Big10west, Iowa is who we expected them to be. Score 20 pts per game and back it up with top 5 Defense in the country. No other team in the West scares me. Not Whiskey, Gophers, Purdue, etc...
Get you act together men. I L L 💯

Very doubtful. There are not many marquis games next week, and if any Fox decision makers visited this board or saw all the tickets still for sale next week, they likely feared a poor fan turnout for the show at the Grove (and based on our bipolar fan base, they might be right).

We have a rough start after 2 games and many are jumping off ship. Nebraska gets smacked two weeks in a row, and they still will crank out "sellouts". Until we consistently pack Memorial Stadium, we will face an uphill national perception of an indifferent fan base. Our best path forward: turnout for all home games and play competitive football. The wins will come, as will positive national media presence.

Gotta admit, I'm a little jealous of what Prime just did for Colorado. The place is buzzing like it hasn't in years. Not quite sure how the FOX Big Noon Kickoff can change this at the last second, but they are a snooze fest compared to College Gameday. I gotta believe with such a poor showing last night.......well you know.

I think too much time over the summer and camp making videos instead of investing every moment to understanding schemes. Henry also has his attention on his newborns. Not a great time to have twins just tbh. His total focus SHOULD be on his family, but a D1 DC job is crazy enough without newborns.
Yeah, college coaches should be prohibited contractually from reproducing. We need 24/7 100% focus on our team.

What has happened to the defense? Looking for some information on personnel, schemes etc. I believe that the gap control scheme of the first two weeks took away aggressiveness and the fantastic secondary of last year covered up a lot of existing holes in other places? Thoughts?
It's been two games with a new coordinator....give it at least a few more games. 2021 started 2-5 before we turned the season around

Lincoln has a population of approximately 300.000, Champaign-Urbana, approximately 100,000.

Give me a quarterback like Eason, Kittner, George, Trudeau, or Wilson, and a strong group of receivers, make it to a warm-weather bowl every year, and I'm happy.

I was just fixing to say the samething. Colorado st at Colorado seems like a less than stellar game with cu playing oregon and usc the following two weeks. Sooo maybe they still come here?? Thats just my opinion though
Its Over Reaction GIF by CBS

Game does not matter to the media. The hype around Colorado is news worthy and all shows want to capitalize on it.

But Big Noon is still technically at Champaign...the kickoff show will just be remote (like many jobs these days) from Boulder.

This will be Penn State's first road game. They are probably a little mad about that 9 OT thrashing we gave them 2 years ago LOL. I am sending 5 teenagers to the game and they have been informed to act crazy and yell a lot.

"Fox’s top announcing team — Gus Johnson and Joel Klatt — will still make the trip to Champaign for the network’s national broadcast of Saturday’s Illinois-Penn State Big Ten opener at 11 a.m."
