I'm right there with you.

And I'm grasping at straws. 1986 was a really painful season. We went 4-7 and were 2-6 hosting No. 16 Iowa in early November. We'd beaten only Louisville and last-place Purdue. Iowa was coming off a beating at the hands of Ohio State. Inexplicably, we won.

Maryland plays OSU tomorrow in Columbus. They're three-touchdown dogs. I'm hoping for a blowout. And then we'll win, like v. Iowa in 1986.

Right? Someone?

That's how desperate and delusional I am at this moment.
I'm with you on this. Hopefully OSU softens them up for us. I was there a few years ago when they blasted us. And, as a heads up, they would not let me bring in my little compact umbrella into the stadium. I had to find a place to hide it since my car was all the way across campus. I left at the end of the third quarter and completely forgot about my umbrella. So some student got a free gift out of it.

The Terps were home favorites by ~15 against both UVA and IU. Therefore, I'll go with:

Terrapins -12.5; O/U = 51.5

If it goes to 15 pts or higher, I think I'd definitely take the good guys to cover.

I'm sure I'll watch it because I'm a glutton for punishment as a decades long Illini fan. But I fully expect the game to be over in the first quarter.

The only thing I'm hoping for is that Bret launches Lunney and/or Bart this week and someone else takes over those duties.
And in the space of a week, you think ANYONE can fix those areas ? ? ?

In the harsh light of day, having watched a bit of MD-OSU, and with a bracing cold front having blown through this afternoon bringing much cooler temps and our first real sense of autumn, I have a fresh attitude toward attending the Maryland game next Saturday.

I'll attend in order to enjoy watching in person a pretty darn good football team: Maryland. I really hope our Illini don't embarrass us. Nevertheless. I'll be there in O&B cheering for us. I am, however, resigned to seeing consistently competent football only on the Terp side of the line. Hope I'm wrong.

Season is over, but I'm not giving up on Bielema. I think he's the most competent coach we've had since ive been alive.

I've said it before, we lost a ton of production and coaching from last year. We had a some unrealistic expectations for this team. (Granted they way worse than I could have imagined.)

That said the next 6 months are huge for this program, fall back into mediocrity or find a way to be competitive again.

If Bielema ever has a winning season at Illinois, I'll eat my hat on the 50-yard line at the first home game the following year. With UCLA, USC, and OREGON joining the conference, the odds only increase against him having a winning season. And any top recruit seeing this team has to be looking to go elsewhere. As in anywhere else.

Saying he's the most competent coach we've had is like saying all 4 tires on my car went flat, but the right rear wasn't quite as flat as the other three. It's still a dud.

Hey, I hope he proves me VERY wrong. But what you see is what you get...until it gets worse. Assuming that's even possible.

Fortunately my wife and I have season tickets for her alma mater, the University of New Hampshire (aka the University of Caw Hampsha), so I'll get to see a good football game that day.

Not sure which hurts more: being a visitor in an opponent's arena as we are getting thrashed or being at home and watching the opposing fans celebrate their victory. By the end of the Nebraska game, I felt that their fans were much louder than the few fans clad in orange that remained in the stadium. I've sampled both.

Oh great, now we get to be embarrassed in primetime on primetime tv....

The gap between The ‘Haves’ and ‘Have-Nots’ of the Big Ten is wide... and maybe getting wider.

The latest AP Top Ten includes SIX Big Ten (to be) Teams...

2- Michigan
3- Ohio State
6- Penn State
7- Washington
8- Oregon
10- USC

Sixty percent of the Best in America all in one easy, convenient location. Yikes. (And UCLA not to shabby at Number 18.)

This is either going to be taken by the other members of the Conference as a call to action to accept The Challenge... or a warning to... look out below.

For me personally, the home loss hurts more. Lower expectations on the road plus win or lose you’ve got the road trip experience to (somewhat) enjoy.
