Last year sometime I booked a room at the Marriott down the street from SECU Stadium in College Park for Oct 13-15.

Thankfully, I chose the regular rate and not the discounted prepaid one that doesn’t permit cancellations.

We’re probably going to go to an amusement park in Connecticut next Saturday. They do that whole Halloween spook-tacular thing.

Good call, I want illinois to be a solid program we can enjoy watching, but that time is not now. That Maryland game will be really ugly.

I can't believe I have tickets to this. I need to find an excuse to get out of it.
I'm right there with you.

And I'm grasping at straws. 1986 was a really painful season. We went 4-7 and were 2-6 hosting No. 16 Iowa in early November. We'd beaten only Louisville and last-place Purdue. Iowa was coming off a beating at the hands of Ohio State. Inexplicably, we won.

Maryland plays OSU tomorrow in Columbus. They're three-touchdown dogs. I'm hoping for a blowout. And then we'll win, like v. Iowa in 1986.

Right? Someone?

That's how desperate and delusional I am at this moment.

Going to the game would be just as scary

I half wonder if you show up on game day a few hours early and walk up to the players entrance gate when the players get off the bus, saying you're the new Illini offensive coordinator and Josh just hasn't gotten you your badge yet whether anyone would even question it including Lunney. If you do alright you might even get that interim OC position.

I'm sure I'll watch it because I'm a glutton for punishment as a decades long Illini fan. But I fully expect the game to be over in the first quarter.

The only thing I'm hoping for is that Bret launches Lunney and/or Bart this week and someone else takes over those duties.

I'd suggest watching our opening 8-9 play drive --- until we reach the red zone. This will certainly be the highlight of our performance. Then quickly switch over to cartoons and go work in the yard.

Exactly the right kind of desperate and delusional. What will make it okay either way though, is that the Maryland fans will be so gracious.
