Wisconsin 25, Illinois 21 Postgame

Pretty stunning how Illinois couldn’t even pass the ball with the wind while Wisconsin backup threw pretty effectively all game. Allen ran through Illinois the entire second half. Illini pass rush ineffective. And there are no ball hawks on D.
All valid points, but all we had to do was pick that flutter ball (Strain).

cant believe i sepnt a couple hours watching this game, I need to rethink my life
Same here. Wasted time, more often than not. Think of the fans who attended homecoming to watch us $hit our drawers to an average Wisky team.

The terrible Newton targeting call gave all the mojo to bucky...........He made contact with his hands to the chest of the QB and then his helmet barely touched the QB.........

The timeout management was horrendous.....I thought so when we called time out early in the third quarter that it might be a problem later on.........

The next to last TD by bucky was a plum interception chance or at least bat it down.......

This loss has taken the wind out of my sails , for sure.........Not that we lost , but the way we did it........If we could of stopped the bucky RB on that 12 yard run before he got the 1st down would have made it 4th down and they probably go for the tying FG......

Oh well , now we are 3-5 with a bye week......road games coming up and Johnny N. will miss the first half of the next game........

Illini FB......................You are really a fanatic if you live and die by it.......Alas , I am guilty of such fanaticism....I really really am..........

The lost sucks. We should have won

If you don’t see how close this team is to winning. I am sorry. Refs made every call against us. Losing Newton was the call that cost us not saying per the rule book wasn’t right but it changed the game

Guess playing 10 on 11 defensively with a safety 25 yards off the ball, and lettin them gut us with the run, wasn't the right call afterall.

Notre dame or Florida, debating my new college football team
This is the #1 reason we lost this game. Freaking prevent defense with safety not even in the picture at the end of the first half and the whole second half. Gutless coaching! Playing not to lose. Aaron Henry disqualified himself from coaching another game here. Pathetic. GUTLESS!!!!!

Our defense at the end of both halves were bad but I still like Henry. I think our LBs are getting better and our corners are close. Scott needs to get the INT

I... don't hate that call. *ducks* He didn't really hit him with the crown of this head, but he did lower his head. It's a really weak targeting but is probably targeting all the same, so they really should call it to help clean up the game.

Please don't hate me.

Not being able to recover from that on D along with a whole host of baffling coaching decisions cost us the game. Not the refs.

This is the right take. We don’t have to like it, but it did look like the right call, and needed to be made. The inability to recover from that is a whole separate issue that absolutely needs to be addressed.

Should have won this, Wisconsin handed it to us in the 1st half with many dropped passes etc...we had great field position several times and didn't take advantage enough, then the defense laid an egg on the last 2 minute of the half td they got, and poor play at the end of the game....the Newton targeting was crap...but we never should have allowed Wisconsin to have been within 3 to begin with....definitely put most of this on the coaching/coordinating as well as some continued shoot ourselves in the foot plays throughout the game which is inexcusable for week 8. Just really as shame this was a game we should have had with better prep and fewer dumb mistakes....hope we don't have to look at this one as the game we needed to have a bowl season.

Can I still do the math to win the west? Yes. Does it matter? Not after today. You’ve gotta win out and i can tell ya pretty confidently I cannot trust this team for a four-game stretch.

Both of our coordinators are outmatched and outclassed. One get's a pass....but we need to look at it closely for next year.

The other absolutely has to go.
If Lunney stays, we will likely lose some knowledgeable fans. We've already lost most of the unknowledgeable fans. He is not good. Never has been.

I don't have anything really against Henry, he's been ok. But if Jim Leonhard is still on the staff next year, he needs to be the DC. You can let Henry save some face and make them co-DCs, but Leonhard needs to be the one in charge.
