First half point guard thoughts after spending an off season convincing myself there was a plan I just didn't know about.

I’ve seen these games before, we’re just trying to keep up… and we can offensively… but if there aren’t defensive changes at halftime, we’re going to lose. I bet monelyline on Marquette tonight just to ease the pain of us losing. Hawkins isn’t going to cut it, we need to slow this down, put Dain in, take advantage of that mismatch and let him kick it out.

This is a really good and well coached Marquette team, so I'm not sure what to make of this situation, but those of us who expressed reservations about the potential of this team, those reservations look real to me based upon what I see. Issues with leadership on offense, shooting, shot selection, and point guard play are rearing their heads this game.

Whole damn team is jacking up bad shots, but Dainja can't play because he might be a step slow defensively.

This is the unfortunately reality of a basketball team that has a defined weakness and why it’s not so easy for us to say “stop shooting so many threes.” The defense is going to pick and choose what it’s willing to give up. The help-side defender has been sagging off like crazy to help on our drives, and we just can’t knock down the corner three with enough consistency. That shot is there all game because MU will clog the lane. The Coleman stepback antics have to stop though.

I’ll say though. For as bad as Goode has been defensively, there’s a reason he’s in. Dang, that last 3 was important.

Ok, we need some half-time adjustments.

Marcus is getting hung up on screens and the whole defense is breaking down. Gotta put Ty on Kolek or maybe even DGL, who has shown an ability to skinny up.

Just don’t know what’s happening with Coleman…

High level BB so far for 3rd game of season. We took their punch and have not crumbled. 2 really good teams having at it.
I'm encouraged so far, we haven't even come close to gelling as a team so far and Marquette did that last year with essentially the same team we are playing
