The only reason we had that many TO’s is because we got sloppy and more relaxed up 20 … So if we have that many turnovers again … I bet we don’t get beat by 20 …

If we play every team like we played against Rutgers defensively … We won’t lose many games …

And I think every game on the schedule besides Purdue we will have the best player on the court …
TSJ vs. Knecht is gonna be a battle

I don't see the comparisons between Justin and Damonte, just two very different players in my opinion outside of a team first attitude and willingness to show effort on the court. It was fantastic seeing Justin have a good game against Rutgers, but from what we've seen thus far out I'd still have him in the deep sub category (3rd or 4th off the bench depending on foul situation) though if he starts stringing performances together like he did at Rutgers, he does have room to move up.

I do agree with your DGL take though- to get time he's going to have to earn it, and thus far he hasn't really done that in his opportunities. He'll get a few more chances, but it has always been difficult for freshman to break into the B10 and show themselves capable of playing anything outside of spot minutes in conference play without being bullied. Really, Griffiths of Rutgers is in similar shape right now though he's an even more dynamic a scorer. B10 upperclassmen will just go at you, pick you apart, and take your lunch money.
He didn’t compare their playing styles…he said Harmon was playing that role, which you then went on to list out: team-first and effort. That literally was the point. I would also add his ability to get tough rebounds.

I know consistent outside shooting was probably a big focus for TSJ in the offseason, but is this level of shooting going to continue? Obviously not going to stay at 46%, but curious how much of this is a hot streak vs what we expected based on practice and workouts

First NET rankings came out. We are at 23, and only B1G teams ahead of us are Purdue and tOSU.

FAU at 11. Will be a Q1 opportunity all year long, barring a complete collapse by them.

Rutgers at 72, which puts them right on the edge of sliding down to a Q2 win. They need to stay in the top 75 to stay a Q1 win.

"The #Illini have been pushing Marcus Domask to up his aggressiveness"

It's early hyperbole but, this might be the actual key to our offense this year. I mentioned in the Rutgers game thread how he is so complimentary to TSJ's game, and it really showed that night.

If Domask is going to be that aggressive on the offensive end, it just opens up so much. Lanes for TSJ's to eviscerate, open wings and open posts.

If that's what we are going to see every night, this team is really going to be a very tough out. Even for PU. Edey can't beat us by himself.

We had 17 TO's against Rutgers, this is why you play Dgl. If we repeat this against FAU, we will get beat by 20.
Did you watch Amani on Saturday? Kid's going to be solid for us; however, he had no ball-handling duties and generally looked kinda shell-shocked, as any true freshman dumped into that sitch in the viper pit that is the RAC a month into the season would be.

DGL v. that press on Saturday? No. Not yet. And we didn't need him; our guards were rock solid. Amani saw the floor b/c (IIRC) Coleman and Dain picked up two quick fouls each.

We have to be able to beat teams like FAU on neutral court.

Our team is mostly seniors so we are at our peak

TSJ 5th year
Marcus 5th year
Quincy 5th year
Coleman 4th year
Harmon 5th year

If he and Goode keep shooting like this we’ll be tough to beat. I suspect they’ll both cool off a bit.

I'm not even sure Purdue will have the best player on the court except he's almost a foot taller than TSJ.

I would say TSJ is better than Buie.
Different strengths. My opinion is a toss-up...but the season performances by both will determine my final opinion. To this point I would give TSjr. a slight edge but Buie played the PU game without a turnover and scored in 30s. The real shame is that we don't have Boo on our roster and have to play against him. I would rather admire both players and not knock either. Bottom line is that most teams have a defender or two big enough and quick enough to limit Boo's effectiveness much of the time. Terrance can impact the game in more ways, and yet Boo is smart enough to find ways too. A couple of great players that I hope have strong and consistent season results.
