Rubber meets the road type game. I'll be honest, I don't know quite what to expect. It's one thing for bench guys to come alive vs FDU, but conference games are another animal.

I'm like Fox Mulder. I want to believe. But I'm hesitant to base much on last night. I think decades of being an Illini fan tends to lend itself to hoping for the best but definitely expecting the worst.

Yeah it’s hard for me to put much stock in the FDU game (though I would feel much worse if we played poorly). NU is apparently the type of team who can beat or lose to anyone. We should still be favored, but I have no idea what to expect for this one.

On the contrary, I'm buying Illini stock now. Last night showed metal, focus, unity, and most importantly....a metric crap ton of skill.

This team deserves your buy in.

Illinois looked great last night. Caught it in person. We play like a complete dominant, share the ball, rebounding team they can hang or beat anyone. Hawkins keep shooting in rhythm, get Dain more tics, Harmon to be come more consistent offensively. I think we are trouble for a lot of people. I did see Nico had the boot off. Will be interesting to see when he starts practicing again or if he will use a medical red shirt.

I got jumped on for saying we are still a final 4 caliber team, but I truly feel this way. A few years back we were one-dimensional with Ayo, and Loyola took us down since everyone was looking for Ayo to do something. If we can have that many players stepping up in double figures, we are going to be hard to beat. Would we rather do this with TSJ? Of course. But this gives Harmon, DGL, Dainja, etc a chance to shine. Instead of looking to TSJ, everyone will be looking for their shot. To me that makes us a dangerous team.

I love the optimism, but I don't see us winning by nearly 20. I do see victory.
