Gonna be really interesting to see how Brad hunts matchups. Have to believe Ty and Marcus are going to get plenty of chances to back down Smith and Loyer.

Gonna need 20+ minutes from Dain as well.
Agreed, and my wife and I were confused why he got so few minutes tonight after playing really well. I was definitely thinking how much we’d need him Friday.

My guess is around -6.5, similar to us tonight.

Biggest house money game ever. Come out with intensity and see what happens
100% agree. No downside to this one. Purdue is a team that more than likely will run the table at home. It's a great litmus test. It's a game the we can win, but of significant importance, we need to see where our holes are. Neither FDU nor NW had the physical capabilities to play with us. Purdue and MSU obviously do.

Play hard for 40 and let's truly see where we're at.

Will be interesting to see how Edey with his undersized teammates do guarding against Marcus & Ty’s bootieball.

I also hope the refs enforce the 3-second rule, even though crews rarely call it (especially against Edey when he’s camping out in the paint).
This. It is infuriating to watch Edey post up for 5 seconds in the paint and never have it called.

I don’t see Dain getting much tick this game unless Coleman gets into foul trouble - it removes our biggest advantage.

Will be curious to see how we defend Edey down low. I wouldn’t mind letting him get his 20 & 10 while trying to limit the guards from going off from 3.

Smith and edey may be in for a long night on the defensive end. Matchup hunting and the pick and pop

If he plays drop coverage, Coleman will just pop 3's until the cows come home. That's a trade we can make all day.
I think we have a phenomenal shot at shocking the world, given what we just did to Northwestern's guards.
Pressure the guards. Send a double team from Edey's backside anytime he puts the ball on the floor.

Main concern a bit is depth with missing Shannon. Will need to get some solid minutes and defensive intensity from Dainja and maybe even DGL.

When DGL figures it out on the defensive end, he's going to be a load. Offensively, he's looked ready to get his from day 1. Considering Boo is like 30 years old, I thought he put in good tick.

Funny, but Edey gets 10 fouls a game. 5 seconds in the paint and 5 extra fouls is something Brad out to be talking to the officials about all game long.
The entire bench and every Illini fan at the game should chant “3 seconds“ on every PU possession.

Same thing at the PU game here, only adding the the Orange Krush

In looking to the Purdue game I think the Illini will have to play a great game against the Boilers in order to win. Edey is a beast inside and poses a great threat offensively and defensively. He very seldom wonders more than 5 feet from the basket. So if the Illini can stop their 2 guards from going off and at least limit Edey and not get into foul trouble they might have a chance at an upset. The Illini are going to have to hit some 3's because Edey will clog up the inside just by his size. We will need CO-Hawk, Dain and Hansberry to rotate against him and wear him down. Even with a loss the Illini go home 2-1 and 2 home games against teams we can beat. I hope we can keep it close.

This has been our standard game plan vs dominant bigs. TJD at Indiana beat us pretty bad last year on his own, so we doubled him off the passer in game 2.

Post doubles have been known to cause Purdue problems, but it’s not what we really do.

I’m a believer that you have to able to attack your opponents weaknesses, even if it’s not something you normally do. You don’t have to be perfect with it, you just have to be to a high enough level that they still can’t handle it. We have positional length to scramble and switch out of doubles if we want to. And it probably saves Coleman some fouls to not just keep him 1 on 1. It will be interesting to see what we do.
