Northwestern 96, Illinois 91 OT Postgame

I hate that we switched TSJ off Boo instead of fighting through their weak screens. Played right into their hands. I'm going to have nightmares about it.

[Champaign88]

We can’t allow teams to force us to switch without even making contact on screens. Defensive strategy was unacceptable - Goode cannot be on quick guards.

[GrayGhost77]

Give up over 90 points to Northwestern and you deserve to lose.

Well,

[DB11Headband]

Game was over the second it went to OT. Ran out of gas.

Way too many missed bunnies and offense looked disjointed tonight. Better get used to road environments like that-just the beginning of what’s ahead

[foby]

Expected tough, but not an L

Props to boo

TJ needs to get his game back amid the distractions

[blackdog]

Absolutely crazy stats in this game. Both teams shoot higher % from 3 than overall. Illinois dominates the offensive glass and shoots way more FTs and still loses.

Defense was not good and missing too many layups sinks the team again

[SuperMetroid]

Terrance has a lot of rust to knock off still.

[PizzaHutParkingLot]

We could've used pre-suspension Shannon in OT...

[TheodoreRex]

We have to stop saying this is a good defensive team. Too rarely do we have teeth on defense and make it hard for the opponent. Brad needs to get it figured out asap.

[BoiseBaller]

Refs were pretty awful, but the story of that game is never adjusting the ball screen defense. Just got abused over and over again. Collins really outcoached Brad tonight.

Need to be a 3-seed or better. This puts a little pressure on that. But this is big ten road games against upper half teams. All is good.

[FromTheLogo]

20+ points in OT? Ummmmmmm......

[WeWillWhen]

Had our chances. On to the next one.

[Old Farm Illini]

I’d like to be conference champs, but I NEED postseason success. I trust Brad to address these limitations and get us ready for March. On to the next.

[hiberto]

cohawk going towards NU bench looked like BU had to stop him

[Ronnie]

A whole lot of ugly chants today, none of which are the kind a team can rally around. This isn’t an “us against the world” situation. This is a distraction, no doubt.

Beware what you wish for!

[GallopingGhost]

On the bright side, this makes our win against Northwestern look a LOT more impressive. The committee should take note

[Flyin' Illini]

Shannon has been through a lot, and it is understandable, but he was bad tonight.

[NorthShoreIllini]

What an awful defensive performance and game plan. Just totally outclassed by Collins on that end of floor tonight.

Making layups would be nice too.

[chiefini]

Who was Coleman going after at the end there?
