He's the best player, not named Edey, in the Big Ten and he hung almost 30 on us, which included a big shot late in regulation. Boo, objectively, beat the crap out of us.
Not contesting that fact at all. Just took umbrance with RD's outright love for NW on a show where he should be more objective. FTR, I don't like it when Illini homers do the same.

See: Coleman Hawkins going after Berry at the end of the game ...
If that is the case, then the league should look at the flagrant foul Berry took. His shot to TSJ's head did not look like any real attempt at the ball.

At the time, I shrugged it off as a simple flagrant 1; but if this is true, then there may have been intent involved with the head shot.

It will be 15,000 plus yelling worse things coming up... This was an appetizer to the crap sandwich that other big ten road teams will serve up.
Just look how out of sorts our team looks when a team switches from man to zone. It’s can stop a run or stop the same sets that are run against man. Take a team out of their comfort zone and their plays they run 1000 times in practice.

I like Domask there over TSJ. TSJ still working the rust off.
Regardless who it was, needed a drive with the option to draw a foul. We were tied. That was a poor shot to try and win it.

TSJ is just better at his first step and drawing fouls than anyone else.

I still dont feel any better. we haven't won a road game against a tournament team since Kofi and Trent were on the team. impossible to have any confidence in these guys big picture. absolutely have to go 2-1 vs MSU, Wisconsin, and Purdue and not lose any other games.

Gonna stop you there. TJ is working his way back still, and is not himself yet, which he will be soon, but Buie is not better than Shannon at all
Shannon is a better prospect but BB has been doing this for awhile and an elite point guard is more valuable in the college game than a wing.

Hindsight is 20/20, but I would have preferred a drive, or some ball movement as well. Not a bad look for Domask, but…it is what it is.

I like Hummel, but I thought his take on Berry’s foul was off base. Berry missed the ball by 2 feet with a wild swing and hit Shannon in the head with an elbow.

I'm going to pop a question back at you. TJ is going to go through the rest of this season with student sections that are going to be brutal. I can't even begin to imagine how that would feel. None of us can.

A fair question(and one that can't currently be answered) is....does he return to the TJ of mid December? The decision making tonight wasn't great.

Let me rephrase however....as we sit hit here today, Boo is the best player in the league not named Edey. Without him, Northwestern would be absolutely horrific. With him, they're an NCAA Tournament team.

Tough loss but given how poorly I felt we played still had an opportunity to win. They did a great job stopping us from getting in transition. Probably why they were ok letting us dominate on the boards. Still a lot of season to clean up. Need to be our best selves for the tournament or this season will be seen as a bust.

NW had more points in the paint 46-38

I would have liked to see Ty more, cycle him through for a break for everyone.

Hopefully we will improve with TSJ working in to the rotation

TSJ wasn't driving well the whole game, and was especially out of control at the end of regulation. He looked gassed. A wild drive by him on the last play actually might have been called a charge by these inconsistent refs. Domask was the right guy for the last shot, even though he missed it. Overtime was a nightmare with NW shooting lights out and the D switching confusion.

The bench has to get more minutes. BU is making a mistake pushing a 6 man rotation which is wearing out the players and it showed tonight. Teams won't go deep in March with just a 6 man rotation.

I think I say this all the time but man there feels like such a nice, momentous difference in 15-4 (6-2) versus 14-5 (5-3)…this is such a crucial stretch of games coming up

Felt like some lack of following the scouting report as well.

Honestly we were a Domask midrange from winning that game. I’ll take it. OT was inexcusable but the biggest takeaway for me: our issues we showed today are not only fixable, but quickly fixable.

TSJ reintegration will take some time. Still think this team has plenty of reason to be a natty contender and the big ten is still wide open, especially with games against PU and wisc remaining.

NW actually has two tough games coming up after playing us. They have Ohio State at home which is no gimme and then they have Purdue on the road.
