Illinois 87, Nebraska 84 OT Postgame

Up 3 exactly what he should have done be super aggressive and see if they don't call it. Not like they were calling a ton of fouls anyways
I didn't see a foul, don't think TSJ even touched him or the ball, just had his arm in the way of what I think was a really lousy pass to Tominaga

Late in the game when their running some clock they need to get moving sooner. You don't have to hold the ball until there is less than 7 seconds left and jack up a bad shot.

Run a few seconds off then run your offense. Just move the ball and work for a great shot not just a good one. If you can get a dunk or wide open layup take it, if not keep working for a better shot.

I recorded and watched this game late, as I had church tonight.

I'm surprised to see so much negativity. Nebraska has been quite good, although I understand they hadn't played on the road well. Furthermore, they played with a ton of good fortune, as many have stated.

Ty Rodgers and Luke Goode were monsters on the boards. Love to watch the hustle on the boards.

Kensei Tominaga is my favorite opposing B1G player of all time. I enjoyed watching him go on heaters similar to this against other teams, and I still smiled when he hit those wild stepbacks tonight. I mean, come on, a left handed Japanese basketball player playing for Nebraska? It's just too uncommon. Plus the kid clearly just loves the game, smiling all the time. I hope he puts them in the S16 with a couple heater games.

We should have gotten to the free throw line at least ten more times tonight. I think once Brad got Td up they made it a point to not call anything on our drives to the basket. I don't think I have seen a second half officiated like that all year.

Phew.

Hats off to Ty and Goode for the constant hustle plays and rebounds. Despite nothing going down for Goode today.

Glad we were able to pull that one out but man was I about to lose it. Free throws and layups are our downfall this year. Oh and letting one (or two) player(s) go off on us.

And for the love of everything holy why are we so bad at inbounding the ball?! That dumb ‘line of scrimmage’ play was almost a turnover everytime, and we kept running it.

For what it’s worth, we won and I don’t think Nebraska could have played any better. They were shooting lights out for most of the game.

I concur, but what concerned me with that last or second to last timeout? It was called by either Tim Anderson or Coach Tyler Underwood. In watching live and replay. COACH Brad Underwood almost lost his mind. We maybe talking about the last timeout or the one before it. Someone on bench called a timeout staff wise and it was not Coach Brad!
The coaching tonight was a hot mess. Coming out of halftime it was awesome for about 8 minutes. That was it for the entire night. To many chefs in the kitchen!

Hamer called the TO … Looked to me like Tyler was holding Brad back …

I know we will need TJ to reach our full potential, but he is killing us right now.

He's shooting 22/61 (36%) from the field and 7/36 (19%) from 3 since his return. It is trending up, but he needs to shoot at a lower volume until he gets his shot back. I'm not sure his defense is making up that difference right now either.

That’s concerning because the one I was thinking about was a good timeout. Don’t remember the outcome. Interesting

Who the heck is this Hamer dude and why is someone 4+ levels down the bench from Underwood calling TO's and having any effect whatsoever on in-game decisions ???

We out rebounded then 50-33 that is the reason we won. How many of those were hustle

They hit hard 3s and didn’t miss a FT. That is hard to beat and we did it. Nebraska is a good team and should make the tournament they just need to take care of their business

We should be ranked around 10 tomorrow. A good quality win for the resume. Learn from the mistakes at the end of the game
THIS. THIS. THIS.

Nebby is a very well-coached and dangerous team. They are 16-7 and have beaten Purdue and Wisky. They are legit.
Not our best game but I feel like our opponent had a lot to do with it. Nebby played their best game, coming back twice.
Our guys fought through.
This is a great win.

Why is the assistant to the head coach calling timeouts? You also suggested he is responsible for the defense? I had to look him up.

Maybe it's me but since TJ came back we are not playing team ball. The Northwestern home game was a perfect example where everyone was connected. Since TJ came back our shooting has been crap, all of a sudden layups, free throws are just rolling off the rim. Quincy just isn't the same. Is he hurt, tired? We quit playing booty ball. Is Marcus deferring to TJ? The MSU game now becomes so important to demonstrate we can beat a good team on the road! I don't like the 5 days off this time of year. The Illini can't play hero ball and be successful!

As frustrating as games can be the hours following, the morning after always provides perspective and it’s great to wake up knowing we put another W on the board. The seasons a grind and it’s great to be able to grind out some wins when not playing the best. Still think this season can finish as a special one.

Excited that the team has a week to work and get right before MSU.
