Nebby fans are going through it on Twitter about the officiating.

I'm assuming you mean they are being contrite about the missed call when Quincy got whacked across the face, right?

As frustrating as games can be the hours following, the morning after always provides perspective and it’s great to wake up knowing we put another W on the board. The seasons a grind and it’s great to be able to grind out some wins when not playing the best. Still think this season can finish as a special one.

Excited that the team has a week to work and get right before MSU.
good post , mate........

Oh I agree. I just think it’s funny because Illini fans get a bad rap about complaining about officiating when every single fan base does the same.
Yep, the refs always have 50% of the calls wrong and 50% of the calls.... dependent on time and score. Our group is on par with everyone else's.

Our players get thrown under the bus too. Goode couldn't hit the broad side of a barn last night, but a poster attributed it to a lack of effort. The comment waa "wake up!!!!'....as if the effort wasn't there to bury the shots.

Watching the highlights...
Nebraska shot a bunch of 3, and quite a few bad shots went in.
Harmon and Goode were 0/10 combined with a lot of good looks. They hit 4 of those and nebby misses a couple tough 3's and this is an 18 point game...
Sometimes it's just a bad luck night and we were still good enough to win. I'll take the W and move on

I am a little concerned with the “a Win is a Win” so just go home and be happy approach.

Not all Ws are created equal.

It’s not that a W is ever a bad W, it’s just that some are better than others and you can bet that when two schools are on the NCAA bubble, the quality of the Ws is a factor.

I hope the coaching staff continues the “we won, but we could have done better” attitude
I don’t think anyone is saying “win and be happy about it.” I know when I said “I’ll take the win” my point was that I’d rather get a win with some teaching moments than a loss.

I think Nebraska is a pretty good team, will be a tournament team, and played really well. We definitely have some things to work on, but we played well enough to win on a poor shooting night. I didn’t expect this to be a blowout and don’t understand all the complaints on here (outside of this being a message board) about a win. Good teams learn how to win when they don’t have their best going. That’s what happened, and it’s an improvement from Maryland and NW.

While this "break" in the action, so to speak, basically two games in two weeks, is good for the team overall after a rigorous schedule up to now, I wonder if it is not so good for TSJ? The rest of the team is trying to mend their wounds and recharge but this just gives TSJ too much time to think about things. And, of course, not playing very many games during this stretch is probably not ideal for getting him back into the groove.

Does anyone know where to find the shot quality stats/analysis from last night's game?

TSJ has adopted a me against the world attitude that is effecting his play. It's got to be more of US than me.I know TSJ has a million thoughts going on inside his head understandably, hoping TSJ and teamates can regain their mojo and play freely, connected BB rest of season.ILL

I don't think 72 percent is anything to get excited about.
GrayGhost77 : I'm talking about the last 7 or 8 games before this one. We started off the year bad, then got much better for a while before this game. Color me not concerned.

Also, 72 percent isn't all that bad. It's about average. Illinois is smack dab in the middle of the Big Ten in free throw percentage, tied for 6th with NW. And considering how bad it started off at the beginning of the season I think 72% at this point in the season is pretty good. Big improvement since the beginning of the season.

Looked frankly pretty awful and extremely tentative after up 10. Would have liked to see TSJ take it to the hoop, but he looked tentative too.
Getting the W is everything for now for sure, so got to be very happy @ that - but we sure do need to be a whole lot better come March.
I am 100% in the pro Underwood camp but he did the quick timeout thing right after TSJ hit the 3 to put us up 10. I think the quick timeout after a score is good when making a comeback, but not when we have all of the momentum.

I'm going to go to bat for Harmon here. As awful as his night was, he stepped up and drained two enormous free throws in OT. I suppose that as much as we try and breakdown a game like that, it's easy to reign compliments when up 10, then criticism when they cough it up.

I agree with you. I don't think there is any chance Brad is taking that "We won, we're happy" approach to practice. I'd imagine they are getting their butts chewed for their mistakes that kept this game close.

The coaching staff and the fans can and should approach games in very different ways.
