So it's apparently "PSU basketball hosts conference powerhouses at old-school gym in an attempt to goose mediocre performance week."

Put that on a white-out T-shirt for the Rec Hall faithful.
Really need to get this win so Coleman can troll yet another PR effort against us

I perused the painful Testudo Times (Maryland) SB Nation site postgame. The participation there is underwhelming but someone referred to CoHawk as a "pr&ck and a half."

Looking forward to an emphatic road win and a CH video trolling on the flight home featuring white T-shirts.

While all of our losses to PSU last year sucked, it was the BTT one (which I unfortunately attended...) that really stuck with me. The first loss in Champaign seemed like such a random flop that we could theoretically move on. The second loss in State College seemed at least justifiable in that it was a road game. However, to lose to them in our Home Away from Home in front of an 80%+ Illini crowd when we desperately needed that win just felt like PSU pouring salt in our wounds. I think a lot of our fan base has been waiting for some revenge!
I was so mad after that game I was temporarily banned from this very forum. Revenge sounds delicious

I think this will be a beat down. Not easy to do on the road in conference.
I think it will look a lot like the Ohio State game. I don’t see a major a$$-kicking in Rec Hall, but a pretty comfortable win after taking a couple of hits (especially early) is pretty feasible to me.

Kenney Gym holds 3000. We have not sold that few to a non weather game in 100 years.

Old Huff before the remodel was 8000. And Illinois had a phenomenal winning percentage (.815) there.

Yeah but Kenney is closer to Murphys so it would have been more convenient for undergrad me.

I imagine huff would be a wild place to play if they ever had to play there for some reason though is only seats 4k now.

Cleary's role had been slipping the past few games after going a combined 8-28 from the field in back to back losses against Ohio State and Minnesota at the end of January and then the team put together back to back wins @ Rutgers and Indiana while he was out with a concussion. For instance, he had 0 points in 14 minutes in a loss @ Northwestern eight days ago. My guess is that it likely boiled over into arguments/insubordination and hence, a dismissal.

While it lowers whatever ceiling Penn State would have for the rest of the season, this could very easily be a short-term "addition by subtraction" and rallying point for the remaining players in the short term, so gotta come out focused.

I have been an Illini fan since Nick Spoon. That is a long time. This team has the components to go a long way this year. If they keep coming together and peak at the right time, they could do some serious damage. Underwood is doing a phenomenal job here and hopefully this year will be topped off with a long run in the tournament. I have not been this excited since 2005. Don't get me wrong. The 2020-2021 team was good but this team has another gear that if kicked in could take away some pain of our underachieving years that WE have LONG endured. Underwood is right. This is where Illini Basketball belongs. When Illinois basketball is good, it is better for everyone. I love it when we play on the road and see the opposing crowds leave in bitter disappointment after we have brought them down. The best thing about this new NIL period for me is that the Blue Bloods are no longer dominating like they once were. There is much more parity. Listen I know it is not perfect but at least now many more schools have a puncher's chance and that is all that you can ask for. I do believe that Illinois will win a title in the next 5 years. Far fetched you say? For me, the sooner the better :)
Spoooon! I am with you old guy.

So, were the tickets ever in your hands (on your phone), meaning the seller transferred the tickets to you, you download them to your phone....then they got pulled? How could the venue even be allowed to decide who someone else's tickets can go to?

I didn't know that was even a feasible thing to do. I guess that free enterprise doesn't extend to sporting events?
No, never in my possession. I presume PSU/Bryce Jordon controls who gets the tickets, even in a transfer. I wasn’t going to get paper tickets. I’m presuming that PSU/BJC told the ticket holder that he/she couldn’t transfer the tickets…and it was up to him to tell SG.

How could the venue decide who gets tickets? It’s probably somewhere in the fine print it says “ we can do what the heck we want.” we can do what the heck we want.” Look for it under ‘Subject to….’”
