Dayammmmmmmn that dropped us to 95th defensively in kenpom, lol
Amen. At least give a few different looks here and there. You can play drop with Shannon guarding the ball. That’s it. But even then, he would be a part of a good trap duo. Show me that twice a game for all I care. But do SOMETHING. I am sick of double digit second half leads meaning basically nothing.D was much better in the last 7 minutes, but when you allow teams to get comfortable shooting they will make them. Our D is not good, but glimpses of improvement late. I believe it is mostly, if not all, effort but the scheme also is not great. Clearly higher effort at the end of the game. For all that is holy, please, please, please scrap the drop coverage and start hedging screens. Teams are fu&^ing torching us and have been since we started playing averagely competitive teams. It will not take us far in the tournament. Glad for the win, but tough to see us winning any of the final 3 if we can't stop anything teams want to do.
Those point totals are incredibly, insanely,....low.3 coin flip games left. I'll take winning 2 of 3. All Quad 1 games, win 2 and we go from a 4 to a 3 seed IMO.

The nets in SFC tonight must be really worn out.
We are basically Alabama. 95 is not good. But being 3 offense is amazing. I don't know how to feel. I'll take the win and move onDayammmmmmmn that dropped us to 95th defensively in kenpom, lol
They made some tough ones too74 % 3 pt shooting. That is stupid.
Seems most teams are on fire against us!? I watched some replays and don't feel we are playing that awful on D and yet teams still hit their contested shots against us. Let's hope whoever we play in the tourney doesn't go into turbo mode against us.View attachment 31585
The Gophers were on fire.
But the better team won, nonetheless.
Not enough defensive resistance, for sure. But several gophers were abnormally nice from deep tonight.
Game ball to Dain Dainja for spinning gold from his precious minutes on the floor, making winning plays on both sides of the court. The unwavering tenacity in his play, game after game, despite the cage they’ve put around the Dancing Bear, is supremely admirable.
Let’s keep tightening the grip as we march towards March.
We must be playing Loyola MarymountI can only assume we're going to win in the first round 140-137
Coleman's explanations and responses to the media questions are very insightful. You can tell how intelligent he is. He's also very well spoken and gives the media a lot of great infoI hope you guys just listened to Coleman’s presser….it’ll give you a look into how dialed in he is on scouts and his basketball IQ
You're correct but most fans will have none of it. Minnesota was making some tough contested 3s.I think they just made another off-screen leaning 3-pointer with a hand in their face… felt like the only really wide open looks we gave up were off rebound scrambles
No way they hit the same rate that Minny did tonight. (I hope)This team and season is like a box of chocolates. Iowa sitting at home licking their chops and looking to rain threes!
Or Grinnell CollegeIf anyone ever wanted to root for 1990-1991 UNLV, now’s your chance
It’s more about the matchups that I’m referring to. Most great defensive teams (Houston, Virginia) play as a unit, not so much 1 on 1.They hit 3s some of them were open but a lot had a hand in their face in the first half.
I think sometimes the problem with our defense is the game has a good flow. The ball starts going in and then the shooters get hot for both teams. MD vs NW was low scoring because open shots were not going in. The threes missed in that game were similar to the ones Minnesota made
Tonight that number was 7, and Illinois outscored Minnesota in the paint. They just shot the lights out from midrange and 3.How many dunks and layups in the half court do we give up a game? It’s gotta be higher than the median.
Our defense stinks
