Everyone strap in: this year's version of the “This Little Light of Mine” commercial is the cringeworthy Shai Gilgeous Alexander & Chet Holmgren duet. All hail the mute button

Iowa has a ton of talent and interest on offense....but they hate doing anything but watching on defense.

Virginia showing up with their putrid offense tonight so far - on a 38-point pace through 8 1/2 minutes.
Being a UVA fan is the ultimate monkey's paw. You get the Natty, but also have to watch consistently the worst offense in major college basketball. 193rd this year in adjusted offensive efficiency. Just brutal, horrible, unfun stuff.

TruTv goes from a channel I completely forget exists to one of my most watched during March Madness. Could not be more excited to get this tournament started.

WBD announced a couple weeks ago that they were going to have a new evening and primetime block on the channel focused on TNT sports. It will mostly be alternate broadcasts of sporting events carried by its sister networks, as well as new studio shows, and sports-related documentaries and films. They also moved the one show (Impractical Jokers, which someone mentioned earlier) that seemingly aired on a never ending cycle on that channel over to TBS permanently.

Yeah, the Bennett Family calculus certainly
gets results…but paint drying, root canals and insurance seminars are more fun.

A signpost of college athletics being an increasingly unhealthy ecosystem:

Such will the be the fate of the bowls shortly.
Feels a little self-important for a team that has made the tournament maybe twice in the last 15 years

The concept of “we aren’t going to play in the NIT so we can get ready for next season” sounds so hollow.

Give your staff a chance to plan practices, or even let an assistant be the head coach for a game.

Give some players who haven’t played or who you think may be transfer portal candidates some game time.

More practices wouldn’t seem to be a bad thing.

But I do know all of those things probably are a foreign language to control freaks like Pitino. If I were running a program, I’d absolutely accept the invite and do any or all of the above. Make lemonade out of it.

This. If I was an AD, especially for a major program, and my mbb coach said heck no, we're turning our nose up at the NIT...I'd fire them.

That is taking revenue from the school, advertising opportunities, NIL opportunities...

Not to mention more practices, opportunities for asst coaches and bench players to develop, and even an NIT Championship can be used in recruiting.

Ridiculous.

Thanks to all who have commented eloquently on how unbelievably hideous UVA's offense is, so I don't have to. Its football team could score more in a half.

Also, props to the Big Red for hanging in Columbus to the wire. Seemed that if Gray hadn't picked up that bizarre T with ~ 3 mins left they might well have won.
