I can't watch the game as I am at work. I glace over at the ESPN Gamecast every once in a while. Can anyone tell me why the Illini are not taking the ball inside more often? Except for Miles they are bigger and I would assume stronger than MSU. I see they are shooting 40% from behind the arc but with 16 points in the paint I would think they could feast in there. It's a little frustrating when it seems as if the 3 is their go to play many times. Only 15 seconds into a set and they are putting up a shot, missing and then going back on defense. It would be a little more tolerable if they had more offensive rebounds but they only have 4.
Simple, we play 5 out and no one plays in the paint except for P and R plays and cutters who are covered well. We try to unclog the lane for drivers and booty ball. TSJr. has had a couple of 3 amazing drives and finishes as has Hawk. They are doubling MD and he has been slow to get anything and not forcing anything. Ty had some opportunities and missed and fumbled away the ball a couple of times. Q did nothing.
But the bench, with Goode, DD, and DGL have been our saviour and played very well. DGL is two for two from the arc...who'd a thunk it? Goode is 1 for 2 with 2 boards and no turns or fouls. DD is 2 for 2 with 4 boards and only 1 foul...no turns. TY and Q need to get going and we should be fine.
When this half starts, we have to keep Minix and Howard from going off. They will be firing away early...just like they started.
