Some were a little worried about byu. In my mind, the better team won- Duquesne. So now we have to worry about beating the better team.

I think we can do it, but we have to keep locked in
I had Duquesne initially as one of my upsets, but I changed it at the last minute when I recalled someone here saying they were the worst 11-seed in tourament history.

Which one of you is to blame!?

I immediately said after about 6 minutes yesterday that Duquesne is the tougher matchup for Illinois. BYU was a GREAT matchup-they play little defense and their one strength on offense is the biggest strength Illinois has on defense.

Brian and Deon. No brainer.

Varsity app, then synch with the TV broadcast.
With reasonably good TV announcers, I'll save Brian and Deon for later. Yesterday, I couldn't handle the TV crew, so I synced up the radio call. It's obviously better that way, but I normally enjoy putting on the radio call the next day after a game when I'm doing menial tasks.

Some took exception to their comments about Coleman hawkins not being a winning player/champion when he in fact had been part of two banners (now 3) before they said that. And if I recall they tried to diminish his contributions when called out on it and then had to be reminded that he was a big contributor in that championship clinching game against iowa

How are you covering illini hoops day in and day out and not know we won the Btt just 3 years ago and the regular season 2 years ago, and that our lone 4 year player obviously was on those teams?

THey posted a crow eating video:

It's why Coleman "randomly" posted the cutting down teh nets pics on twitter and such which preceded that infamous PSU game ha....of course he shouldn't have paid them any mind but he is who he is hah

that said, I enjoy them and their commentary 95% of the time
They also went on a rant a few years ago that our fans are super delusional and annoying and the Michigan guy said something like, “Of course they look back to things like 2005, because they have nothing to look forward to.”

He’s since chilled out since their program has crashed and burned and we’ve beaten them 8 straight times, lol…

Duqesne is defense, defense, defense. They won their conference tournament title game shooting 29.8 % from the field as a team (9-32 on twos and 8-25 on threes) but dominated the offensive glass and turned VCU over a bunch. They're pretty balanced as far as three point attempts and two point attempts. They are overall the lowest rated adjusted offensive efficiency teams left in the field. They've gone 10 deep for most of the year but are tightening up to about 8 now, so they definitely won't gas out the way that Morehead St. did. A couple of senior guards in Jimmy Clark (number 1) and Dae Dae Grant (number 3) provide most of their offense and it's fairly even between the two of them and just depends on the game. Clark attempts a bit more twos, Grant a bit more threes but both will do either a bunch as the situation requires. They have about three big guys they rotate, the biggest is a sixth year senior at his sixth school, Dusan Mahorcic who has played at Illinois State amongst his previous stops, but he's probably the least utilized. They have a 6'7 forward, Fousseyni Drame, that was on (and played a lot) for the Saint Peter's team that made the Elite Eight (with wins over Kentucky and Purdue) a couple years ago. Hopefully another game for Dainja to get in there.

The Morehead coach spoke to how hard it is to prepare for the Illini because of their versatile styles of play and how they adapted their style of play during the game. Cannot recall the last time I heard an opposing coach say his team took the opponent out of their offense...and then got blown out.
I'm sure Duquesne will be looking at lots of film from different games, including Marcus' booty ball games, TSJ's runaway train games, the games in which Coleman was a 3-point threat and/or a driving threat, Quincy going on a heater and, of course, Dainja's recent emergence at both ends of the floor. Not sure how you prepare for all of that in one day. And there's no way to replicate TSJ's speed and angles in practice. Long way of saying Duquesne may be good, but I don't think the Dukes can stay with the Illini for 40 minutes.

I think they have learned a few lessons for sure. But there’s zero chance two dudes rapping about this stuff unscripted aren’t going to get something badly wrong sometimes.
They seem to have fun clowning themselves when they do make those mistakes like the CoHawk comments. And CoHawk clearly has fun with that stuff too.
Any fan of other teams is going to have fun at the expense of those teams…but these two seem to enjoy their successes as well.
Like Daddy Brad and Dain.

I always dislike how March madness rolls around and they put a bunch of ppl who don’t know college bball on the broadcast. Avery about had a stroke trying to figure out Dain Dainja’s name in the first half yesterday until his partner bailed him out. He means well, he just doesn’t know (college) ball
If they're going to do a three-person crew anyway, why not have a play-by-player and an analyst who knows each team? Yes, that potentially means eight analysts over a session, but I can't imagine that a Mike LaTulip or a Sean Harrington would demand an exorbitant fee for that type of visibilty and opportunity. And it wouldn't have to be limited to alums. Any BTN analyst who did our games would know far more than someone who watches the NBA all year then has to learn about eight different college teams for a day's broadcast.
