Thanks. I think I knew the answer, but didn't want to come to grips. Still feel there could be a significant role for him as an energy guy (steal and dunk off the bench) and defensive specialist, especially if have enough o-weapons.
I'm the farthest thing from an insider so disregard this if someone says anything different, but my guess is that Brad likely laid out a role that is very much like what you described, but Sincere would rather try to play a larger role somewhere else.

My sense is:

Hawkins: will absolutely go pro if his health makes that feasible
Storr: we're a tad skittish about giving him everything he wants and he's gone if any school in the country offers him one red cent more of NIL than we do
Boswell: both his current and prospective future coaching staffs don't quite understand what his deal is

ALL OF THAT SAID, I am salivating at the prospect of that potential triple-headed monster for next year.

We're talking a big time preseason ranking and being picked at the business end of the Big Ten.

The dream realistic outcome at this stage, imho.

Thank you for all the updates we all appreciate it!

Curious how someone could put a percentage on the Domask waiver? The NCAA seems to be a complete crapshoot on these things so wonder how anyone can handicap what they’re going to do? Or is that precisely why it’s 50/50 — no one knows so a coinflip is as accurate as anyone trying to make a prediction.
Because it likely is a crapshoot. The NCAA does not have to afford due process so there is not going to be any injunction hail mary. Repot is he has hired an attorney. Could be the waiver is already denied but I think very unlikely. This is going to be a fact sensitive decision so you hire an attorney to present your best case based on the law and the facts. The law? Yes whatever decision they make cannot be arbitrary or capricious. I have no idea but others say the decision turns on number of games played as a percentage. A percentage of what. The NCAA making their own proclamation without precadent would be arbitrary and capricious. This year look how many teams got in not by their record but by winning their conference tournament so how do you use your all knowing powers to say Southern would not have won their tournament and played the requisite number of games. I do not think you can. Plus you throw in an essentially free covid year into the mix plus the fact it seems like every time the NCAA goes to court they get waxed. Having an attorney involved now tells them we lose see you in court. I think there is some basis for some level of hope

One question i have, based on the "maybe a 5" part, is:

If we DON'T get a 5 in the portal, what would the plan be to stop teams with top tier bigs? It seems to me that Amani and Rez (and Coleman if he happens to come back) would be better off guarding 4s if we can help it.

And all 3 of those players listed look pretty good to me, it's nothing against any of them. But it just seems to me that we would really struggle against certain teams, and therefore we'd likely have a certain ceiling for the season, if we don't get a legit 5. Or are we thinking Rez and Amani can cover that role? Honest questions, I'm looking to get educated on what the thought process might be.
I think Dain leaving pretty much tells us we're getting a big through the portal...if not...then Amani is basically it.. maybe MJ....can't see that happening

If we had to pick 2 out of Storr, Boswell, and Maxime Raynaud, which 2 would it be?

(oh along these lines, my probably non-realistic dream lineup would be Boswell, Domask, Storr, Hawkins at 4, and Raynaud. Yes, Ty would have to move to a bench roll, but his minutes would likely still be similar in the 22-25 range that they were this year.)

I mean...I can make peace with the Sencire situation I guess...but Amani too? Where do you draw the line with prep recruiting now? I know competition is a good thing, but I'm fairly sure I've heard "development program" straight out of BU's mouth?
I also know a coach having success like BU is not going to turn away talented transfers that want to buy into his program.

What a crazy time in CBB.
Very much feels like CBB is trending hard toward the scenario many feared: power conference teams using mid-majors as a minor league of sorts, with those players unlikely to make an impact at that level going down to second tier power conference teams.

Too early to call Amani’s future. I hope he plays 10-15 min next year.

Why place arbitrary limits on ourselves?

The thing to me with DD, will be how he handles it away from Brad and FLETCH. Those two put a lot of time and work in, to get his body ready and able for college basketball. I have doubts that will stay the same at Memphis and with Penny. Hated to see him go , hope I'm wrong about this being the beginning of his disappearing act.
Penny promised to help Dain with his golf game.....he really really did.......

Storr and Boswell would certainly qualify as "big time"

And I think the value of the grizzled 5th year mid-major with a high-major translatable game has certainly been demonstrated this year when you look at what guys like Cam Spencer and Dalton Knecht are doing, not to mention Domask.

Coleman vs No Coleman makes such a titanic difference in that regard it's a little tough to define what our needs would be.

I think we know for certain that Coleman's intent was to go pro. But if he's actually going to have surgery that takes him out of the pre-draft process, I'm sure other possibilities creep into consideration.
I know a lot of people look at Stars. But are we sure Boswell is better than Maddox? I mean proven mid majors like Lillard, Domask, Clarkson and on and on have been awesome. Boswell may be better but he may not. Maddox looks damn good to me. In Brad I trust.

The vast majority of teams in college ball don't have a Clingan or Edey at Center. You can get away with playing a PF type (Amani, Morez, Hawkins) at Center against just about anyone (but UConn or Purdue).

I want a guy like Clingan (more so than Edey) as much as anyone, but there aren't a lot of them to go around.

Keep in mind Golden State won a few NBA Titles with no starter taller than 6'8.

I expect him to play starters minutes whether he starts or not. Just because someone starts doesn't mean they log the most minutes. Ty played 8 min vs UConn.
