70% ? This is why people get let down all the time. They continually overrate the possibility of getting a particular player and then feel cheated when it doesn't happen. I'm no insider, but it seems rational that we have maybe a 20% chance of getting Watkins.
To think Illinois is only going to lose Humus and nobody else in the portal is just ludacris

I agree 20% seems like about the chances of getting him. Which of course means that a reasonable person would be looking at other options.
The OP was suggesting wondering if looking at other options meant the staff wasn't optimistic. I really have no clue what optimistic even means to myself and certainly can't define it for others.
Every staff should be aggressively pursuing all options until the ink is dry, "optimism" aside.

Ever since that Egor ship crashed, the dream scenario all along, to me at least, seemed like Watkins and Monsanto. Doesn't make it feel too good that we can't afford both $ wise.
It's been said on here that the price for Monsanto isn't high at all. So really Watkins would literally take up all our NIL left? Goodness...
I mean...if it isn't something crazy like 2 mil, I guess it's worth it still... - we do need a star wing no matter how you slice it and that dude is definitely a star wing imo...

Kasparas is a higher rated prospect than Egor by many pundits. If Egor gets 2 mil, Kasparas might cost 2.5. My advice? Just forget about Kasparas and save yourself the disappointment.

Kasparas has better stats in the same league, but my guess is Egor might project as a lotto pick because his potential to develop as a wing playmaker is more valuable. There’s way more guys in the NBA who play like Kasparas who are primarily scorers like he is. I do think Kasparas should still be in some mock drafts though. Probably just lack of full information when it comes to international players.Lot of people have been saying he's better than Egor on here recently.
