I only caught the 2nd half, but we seemed to always be on the + side when Fears and/or Morez were on the floor.

Argentina sure hit a lot of tree-plays. Didn’t see us hit any, though I was not paying full attention for the whole game.
Fears looked good.
Watched from the middle of the first quarter on. USA didn't come close to hitting a three from what I saw. Also, no Morez in the 2nd half.

Morez is really good but not the best type of style of play for him. Some of these tournaments are very guard oriented. Thought his defense and rebounding played a nice factor
Still feel he made the most of his opportunities… didn’t really care much for the starting 5. Seemed her hero ball ish…

McKenney was trash tonight. Acuff padded his stat line with a few layups but otherwise seemed to try to force it. Big Daniel is going to be trouble in the B1G. He is long and has nice touch. Neither Rez or Fears really stood out with the exception of that the team did far better when they were in. Would have liked to see both of them get more tick.

I don't think Jacobsen is really going to give anyone in the B1G trouble this year. He is really thin, awkward and doesn't have good timing on his rebounding. There are much bigger big men in the B1G that are going to push him around.

I waited to watch until after the game was over so that I could FF over breaks and rewind to look at plays/shots as needed. There wasn't much to see. This team is far, far, worse than the one Ty played on a few years ago. The play was nigh unwatchable, and the refs called it extremely tight.

Players:
Jacobsen (15), and Acuff(5) had decent games. Of those playing 15m+, Acuff was the only one who seemed to try to play defense consistently. Jacobsen would go for and get blocks after being beat. Jacobsen's presence in the paint altered a lot of shots. I think they built most of the lead while he was on the court.

Morez and Fears were played as bench players. They spelled the starters and that was about it.

Morez (7.5m) looked like a man among the boys in terms of physique. He played using his size to move players out of the way when he did not have the ball. His current "technique" will earn him lots of fouls in the Big10.

Fears (13m): Exposed the Argentina guards. About 20% of his defensive possessions he stole the ball. He missed a bunch of 3pt attempts. (0-3? 0-4?).

Overview of team play: What team play?

The USA offense was terrible. If they were running plays, they broke so fast as to effectively not exist. PGs drove into traffic and got stuck. Even when not in traffic, they were often out of control and made bad passes (Acuff in particular). Spacing was terrible. Most of the 3pt shoots were not close (2/22 made). The favorite target seemed to be the near side of the rim. The inside plays were almost all parking lot garbage. On the cleaner entry passes (few), the bigs seemed to miss more dunks than they made.

The USA team defense was non-existent. Acuff and Fears tried. Team USA won on size and Jacobsen in the lane.

If there was any coaching going on outside of the timeouts, they didn't show it on camera.

Game Rating: 2/10. The extra point is for managing to win. AAU games looked 10x more organized.

It’s difficult to stand out when you’re not in the game long enough to get into the feel/flow of the game,I think Rez only played a little over 7 minutes.

Morez got full Tommy'd. So did Fears, albeit to a lesser extent. I hope the plan is to rotate guys/tick, but we'll see. As others have noted, not impressed with team and individual performances, beyond a select few.

based on my experience of watching 2 yrs ago, be prepared to have low expectations. for most of those games, Ty was the only person actually trying to play team basketball vs an all star game approach.

it seems like these games penalize players who want to be good teammates and win vs collecting counting stats/only playing on one half of the court

Pretty much my thoughts. I sat down to watch a FIBA u18 game and an all-star game broke out. Maybe they're all like that?

wholly unimpressed with McKenney. everyone has the occasional clunker, maybe that was his. I see a kid who physically overmatches his peers, but that's not going to happen nearly as frequently in high D1. plus, he looks like 6' 3" max. wasn't pleased when he left Meanstreets. now, I'm thinking he's overrated. guessing he puts up 30 this afternoon, lol

Well to be fair, we now know Ty had to play facilitator because he can’t shoot. // s (kind of)
