Number 34 will remind you of Kofi. Northern Illinois is recruiting him. Do we have any interest?

Why would we be interested in kids that NIU is recruiting?
True but it does seem like he's picking up some steam. Recently has offers from Auburn, Villanova, and K-state.

I don't really know anything about him though other then that he is playing with Dylan Harper.

After the 2022/23 season, there was a lot of talk about not relying on freshmen and many comments on this board about reclasses usually not being worth it. Can someone explain why there doesn't seem to be the same concern for Riley? Is it just because he's a higher recruit (game changer)? I haven't watched him much so trying to understand reasonable expected impact.

I kind of agree with the sentiment. For all the talk of wanting to get old and stay old this is a younger team.

Guards: Boswell(19 year old junior), DGL(sophomore), Kasparis(freshman)

Wings: Ty(jr), Tre White(jr), Davis(so.) Possibly Riley(Fr. - reclass)

Bigs: Hum(5th year senior), Booth(so), Morez(Fr), Ivisic(21 year old Fr), Jaksty(fr.)

There is quite obviously a ton of talent there. Probably more talent throughout the roster than any Illini roster in history.

On the other hand it's a young roster with a lot to prove. Two international guys that will have to adjust to the level(Ivisic is older though).

I think because he isn't a lead guard. There are ways to game plan him shots instead of relying on him to get them for himself. After a short adjustment period you hope he can grow into getting his own whenever he wants but at the beginning you can make sure he gets into the flow of games without him having to do all on his own.

Just my best guess why this reclass is different than others.

Oh and he wants to come to Illinois so there's that too.

Because he's Canadian, he's actually the same age as most Freshman. So while he is technically a reclass, he's not actually young.

2024 Morez Johnson Born January 2006

2025 Will Riley Born February 2006

2025 Jeremiah Fears Born October 2006

Glad you pointed this out. I believe someone else mentioned that they go to grade 13 in Canada. Or grade 10-12 in high school. I don’t remember. It’s different than the states though.

It's actually the same US to CA, just some providences offer pre-K and count that as a grade.
