I was simply stating groce didn’t bring in any certified point guards. I wasn’t say anything about fears’ position or what his role would eventually be.

As weird and bumpy as the process was, we have in the end filled our shopping cart pretty darned impressively with that money
Getting caught in a Riley-or-Fears hard choice as seems to be the case here is a bummer that puts a dent in our future rosters, but all things considered we probably chose correctly.

Fears saw what we’ve been bringing in, talent-wise and was like:
We took on 2 prospective 1st rounders since it was being bandied about the err...size of our bag.
The entire Fears family seems like good people. This is like Coleman (Hawkins), go get your money son & I hope your team finishes 2nd to the Illini every year.

If Fears eligible to start in the fall and reclass - before we had KJ and Riley in the fold, it would seem that the staff would welcomed a Fears reclass with open arms, he would have filled the SG role nicely this year. So, I'm surprised the staff wasn't agreeing to that earlier - or maybe it was just a matter of timing that the reclass to start the year didn't solidify until after KJ and Riley committedRegarding Fears …
This has been the thought all along that he wanted to reclassify … It was not a secret … The NIL opportunity is too great to sit in HS for him and his family and I can respect that …
They also can read and hear that we have 5 stars coming to visit us … Jasper, Thomas and others …
This is simply a case of he wanted to re class and we got better players than him right now and he wouldn’t have a role … They offered him to enroll at mid year and get NIL and redshirt the spring like I reported here months ago and why Brad kept one scholarship open …
The family ultimately decided with how talented our roster is right now as well as how talented it’ll be next year … Jeremiah wouldn’t have the role they thought he once would … So they’ve decided to re class, get paid and get him to a better spot where his path to shots and a starting spot is a lot easier …
Wish the kid and family nothing but the best …

Regardless - what I know we won't see is a interview with Brad saying Fears wanted to come this year and we said "no we're good". Let this kid have his moment and go to the school he wants rather than make it seem like it was the staff's decision

Based on practice reports I would guess that would mean KJ starting at the PG, Jasper at SG and Will at SF - we might score a 100 every night

Get the memo man, it's "we didn't actually want him" time with Fears.
Anyway, they are both 6'3" score-first combo guards rated in the mid 30's nationally whose most-used descriptive adjective is "smooth". It's as similar as two prospects at the same school a decade apart can possibly be.

We didn’t want him for 2024 … That’s been known since before he committed …
Fears literally knew this which is why he said in his statement if he was staying in 2025 he would’ve been coming here …
This has me hyped beyond belief.
