Not going to pretend to know what happened but he still averaged 13 pts and nearly 6 rebounds while shooting 36% from 3. Also averaged 1.6 blocks per game which is absurd for a 6'5 guy(Kofi averaged 1.2 for his career and Coleman averaged 1.2 in his best season). All of that with nearly 2 assists and 1.2 steals per game is a pretty good season.
IMO, the difference between #17 & number 150 is typically not as great as the difference between #17 & #1. There are only a few genetic freaks a year.

Just saying if you look at his numbers they don't look all that different then what Coleman put up last year. Obviously that's just stats and they don't always tell the story but that looks like a pretty good season until he ended up in Boeheim's doghouse.
The peak of Alan's collegiate career was when he "accidently" stepped on Sasha Stefanovic's face vs. Purdue. From that point on he had to try and live up to his legendary status and it was too much weight to bear without Sasha's maxillary bones.

This was more about starting right away than overall college career. Love Coleman but he needed a couple years to develop and we are in an era where many kids don't stick around at the same school all 4 years. Rankings aren't the most important but are somewhat a decent indicator of college readiness right away. If we are going to cherry pick some rankings I would say the difference between Ayo at #30 and the #1 was much less than the difference between Ayo at #30 and Tevian Jones at #102 in the 2018 class...
I don't think anyone has any illusions of Wagler playing a lot next year. You can't build an entire roster with guys who expect to play immediately. You need some guys who are there to develop, even if they end up playing somewhere else. You have to practice against someone, and hopefully they aren't pouting about not playing.
No one is disagreeing on these points. I was just saying a high 4 star could still possibly be considered a starter right away while a low 4 star like Wagler (who imo is more like a 3 star but ranking sites are inconsistent with their star system over the years) probably would not at most power 4 schools and therefore the star system isn't a great one to accurately define players.
Hey CoalCity - I think you were reading this wrong. I hated Sasha and have to admit that I replayed that episode several times. For me it was one of Alan's highlights (not a negative) and made him legendary like Lucas Johnson or Dennis Rodman. Fan of all three. But you were right about Sasha's stomach. I recalled it incorrectly as his face. Bottom line is there is no worry about Boiler or Hoosier love in this camp. I just happen to live in Indiana, hence the name.

I see. Right now, the Fighting Illini program is debating whether or not a 5-star player will start next year. While a very high 4-star might have a chance, its' pretty unlikely the way things are going... which is awesome.
Good point. If you watch the replay he hardly put any weight at all on him and it was more of a "taunt" than a flagrant or violent incident. I was appalled at the suspension. He liked to get inside people's heads which is ok by me (as long as he plays for my team!) Truth be told, there were more pounds per square inch in Juwan's infamous "slap"

Idk. I am not talking about the ceilings but I feel like the #20-#40 guys tend to be more college ready than the >#100 guys. So maybe that's why we tend to get the >#100 guys first these days.
