Hard to imagine a less enticing matchup on a Friday night. Even Purdue would be more fun just to witness the immense dumpster fire.

My wife and I are going to that game.

It will be interesting to see a game there, but I'm guessing it won't be in the same zip code as Penn State as far as road games where I have no rooting interest.

I'm not sure where to put this because it's an off the wall post.

Every school has their TV spots highlighting their school. Some are blah, some ok and a few are fairly good. Never has one really caught my attention. I was watching the Nebraska/Rutgers game and UNL had this one and talk about a flood of memories coming back for me - Just that voice (UNL grad), and the old school hiss in the background. Very nostalgic reminding me of a time since past. I'm not sure exactly who this was targeting, perhaps grandparents pushing their grandkids to UNL but I thought it was fantastic. Best one ever.

Johnny Carson on the narration.

I saw this ad during the Illini/Nebraska game. Can't use a much better voiceover for an ad like that than Carson. And if I'm not mistaken, I'm pretty sure that's from the Johnny Goes Home TV movie that aired in the early 1980s.

Not trying to get too far ahead but Texas plays Oklahoma this week and Georgia next week. If they lose one of those and Oregon beats tOSU, we are most likely playing the #1 Ducks in a few weeks. That's what I'm rooting for.

Another L for the Big Ten. (FWIW, SEC Network is not tracked by Nielsen so there isn't an apples-to-apples figure for Bama-Vandy)

Big weekend for the TV war. Three head-to-head battles without a ton of other competition:

11AM: SCar/Bama on ABC vs Washington/Iowa on Fox
2:30PM: Texas/OU on ABC vs PSU/USC on CBS
6:30PM: Ole Miss/LSU on ABC vs OSU/Oregon on NBC

SEC wins the first by a mile, the second by 10 yards, and the third is a dead heat.

Total audience is about equal between the two however: 4 games vs 3 games. Notice the SEC network is nowhere to be found even though it was showing Vandy beat Alabama.

Well the three best teams in the B1G played largely non-competitive games and the close ones didn't really have any playoff implications. It was hard to get excited for any of the games this week. Basically just another round of "which bottom feeder will Indiana beat up this week and get praised for it."

Why is Mizzou playing @UMass this weekend? Has to be one of the weirder scheduled games I can remember.

Looks like it's part of a home-and-home they scheduled several years back. Minutemen are (still at least) currently scheduled to play in Columbia next season. It isn't completely uncommon for them though. I remember them doing something similar with schools like Toledo when Pinkel was there.

I assume cost is a major factor.

No idea what payment would have been to just bring UMASS in for a game; but it looks like no guaranteed cost to either side with this arrangement.
