The moment that marked the rise of Oregon football, The Pick, occurred in 1994. Phil Knight did not get that involved in Oregon football until at least a deecade later. The steep decline of Illini football started around the same time. This game is the result having 30 years of incompetence versus 30 years of competence.

Demoralizing as this game is, we have already exceeded my win prediction (5) and have 4 very winnable games coming up. Our recruiting is getting more competitive and hopefully helps close talent gaps this wide in this future. Realistically, they’re way more talented and making far fewer mistakes

Edit : definite copium, but still true

My take away so far is that--surprise--we're not an elite-level team at this point. Who-da thunk, considering where we were a couple years ago.

Inexcusable play by the D today. Just cannot have it after a huge bounceback game by them last week. Embarrassing performance so far.
Maybe it’s just the 2nd half Purdue game defense and they’ll trot out the good defense in the 2nd half. /s

No one expected elite from the Illini. We expected them to be competitive.. right now this defense looks like a JV team and being coached like they are just trying to get to next week. Way too many pats on the back. I wish our coaches had the mentality of the Oregon coach. We beat a bad bad bad Michigan team last week and we acted like it was the Super Bowl
