I haven't seen anything from Tre White yet that Ty Rodgers couldn't do. Maybe he will flash in games but he's likely the 6th or 7th option in terms of scoring. Will Riley might be coming for his spot if he learns how to defend. At this point, you got KJ, Riley, Ivisic, Boswell, DGL, maybe Humrichous who are all going to be getting the ball. So, is it really worth alienating Ty Rodgers for a guy who won't even be a top 5 option on his own team?

Shoot the ball and be a threat offensively? Be a guy that the other team has to respect when he has the ball?

Tre had 13 points on 3 of 5 shooting from behind the arc. You have to game plan for that if you're the other coach versus a coach coming out publicly saying....we don't have to guard him.

If Ty was a remotely competent offensive player, he be playing.

I hope you watched the game last night to some extent...

Just because a guy was in the past on a team with an undesirable record, immediately claiming that he's incapable of impacting a good team, and discounting the possible effects of better coaching, players around him, scheme, etc might have... that's quite ignorant. I think it'll become increasingly clearer as the season progresses that Tre is a better fit for the team in terms of what he provides and what the team needs, and therefore in return, a better option to impact winning.

White was 5-10 FG, 3-5 3pt, 5 RB vs SIUE. Riley was 12 FG, 5 3pt, 7 RB vs SIUE. KJ had 13 assists, 12 pts, 8 RB. Rodgers wasn't taking significant minutes from them. If both Boswell and DGL are having bad games or Illini need a taller matchup, likely Brad would go with KJ, White, Riley, Humrichous and Ivisic, with Booth, Johnson, DGL and Boswell (possibly Davis) as backups. The lineups are getting set and Rodgers couldn't see himself getting many minutes or wanted a starting role/minutes and wasn't going to get it. All the others mentioned can score better if not play better defense.

It's not really fair to reach back and dunk on this post from before last night's better performance from Tre, but just to point something out

In his first weaker performance against EIU, one game, 20 minutes, White attempted two three pointers.

Ty Rodgers attempted one (1) three point field goal, total, in two seasons.

Floor spacing is a big deal, and the mere threat of being willing to attempt a perimeter shot shapes the structure of the opposing defense.

Ty provides a ton of value in other ways that counterbalances the harm he does, but he does do harm.

It's absolutely fair to dunk on that post. The guy made the post after a sample size of 1 game. Comparing 1 game of Tre White to 2 seasons of Ty is an absolutely take that deserves to called out and ridiculed. Especially because the guy doubled, tripled, and quadrupled down on his bad takes after everyone pointed out the absurdity of them.

I will give Tre White credit for having a good performance and making some 3's last night. I understand he gives you a different dimension compared to Ty offensively but I'm sorry, I'm not having it right now with these statements that Tre is better for the team than Ty. That's just foolish talk. We can re-visit the matter in a month or two

Ty would've found a way to get into the lineup and make contributions to the lineup. Stop making him out to be a bit role player. He's way more than that.

I do give Tre White credit as credit should be given for making his 3's last night. 1 out of 3 games where he had a good game so far. How about we give it a month or two before we start pronouncing Tre White as being better than Ty Rodgers?

1 game...1 game....Give it a month before you start doing your victory parade.

He did have a good game. I can admit that. It was also against SIU Edwardsville, so let's calm down here. Let's see how he plays against Alabama and Arkansas. Those will be true indicators of where he's at. I have more confidence in KJ, Ivisic, Will Riley than I do in Tre White right now. Starting to get more confidence in Humrichous as well

Were you watching the first 3 minutes of tonight's game? Because Tre White just did something Ty Rodgers can only dream of doing.
He made shots against SIU Edwardsville? Spectacular. I hope you enjoyed your victory parade as well. I love how the posters are coming at me after Tre had a good game against an inferior opponent. Let's see this against Alabama and Arkansas and then my mind will be truly changed. If we want to do this every game where we all go back and forth about Tre White, we can do it. I am banking on him having more poor games than good games. But, if I'm wrong, I will admit it. I have no problem eating crow if he turns into a revelation

Keep moving the goal posts, that's what people like you do. It's the weakest move in the book.

You're wrong and you will always be wrong because you don't really understand basketball.

You said "I haven't seen anything from Tre White yet that Ty Rodgers couldn't do." After ONE basketball game. And then you were proven wrong the very next game. Ty Rodgers never made a 3 pointer in any buy game or any game, period. Just STFU, move on, and take your medicine like a man.

I think we can want Tre's offensive prowess and Ty's defensive capabilities. It's sad we can't just transfer those skills like the magical basketball in Space Jam to one or the other.

It hurts to lose a really good player and person from some really good teams. After last season, Underwood got a taste of what it's like to be really good on offense and be good enough on defense. It looks like that continues to be how he wants to play and Ty just doesn't fit that.

Well, if you watched about the first 4 minutes of the game last night you would have seen Tre make two 3's... something literally no one has ever seen Ty Rogders do in a college basketball game. I guess you just didn't watch the game otherwise you would have seen Tre White do something that Ty Rogders can't do.

What's ur thing with tre white? Ur unhealthy, mysterious affinity for Ty, but what's ur deal with Tre? Why is he getting attacked out of everyone else on the team?

Lmfao......."just quit replying".

Immediately posts his own reply.

And...again...for the love of Ms. Rodgers......it's not Ty vs. Tre...it's Ty vs Tre, Hum, Will and probably Booth.

There's no minutes for no offense. If you haven't figured that out by now, you are just being obnoxiously ignorant of the obvious.
