Montini is bigger stronger faster and they were inches away from losing. Byron played their game and slowed it down. The pre snap penalties killed them. The roughing the kicker was a back breaker but it was the right call.

Abram’s is a solid qb prospect but we really missed out on Davion Thompson deciding to focus on basketball.
No question. It was close to being 14-0 Broncos early, but Byron just stayed solid. I want to say they had 3 or 4 false starts in the first half that put them behind the sticks. Overall, just a great highschool football game. I also believe Byron plays a lot of underclassmen. I can't see them dropping any games next season.

How did the Trojans do today? Nice to see them back and a threat in 7a. Been since the Garrett Edward's days if i remember.
Well CG beat Antioch 41-8 in 6A, but I don’t think you mean that. 😉

I didn't, but anyone who think that ESL/CG matchup isn't juicy I don't what to tell them. I hope we get to see it. ESL did play a big national schedule this and did amazing. CG is a monster.

CG’s best player is out for the year so I wonder if we will get that far this year. Certainly hope so and I’ve always preached it’s the system there, not the players.

Love the fact that ESL has played the Fox Valley champ in the final, three years running, and are 1-0 against Prairie Ridge and 0-2 against Cary-Grove.

We’re also on track for a Lincoln-Way East vs Loyola rematch, too bad it’s not in the state final this year.

Also, I hate the way they determine home field for these games, it should simply be the highest seed plays at home. I know many would disagree.

LA is down this year. They’ve had a lot of injuries

I don’t know what to think of esl. They played img very close which is very impressive. They also had trouble with Edwardsville. Last week York handled Edwardsville.

Honestly the way they do it is the best and most fair way to do it. Besides, if you're the higher seeded team, you should be able to win whether the game is played at home or on the road.

The issue is when a higher seed is on the road in the semi finals. If you want to host playoff games then you should win more games.

It why give the higher seeded team a disadvantage? It doesn’t make sense.

I agree the higher seeded team should win, but rewarding the lower seeded team with a home game in the playoffs is the opposite of rewarding teams for a great season.

True but the higher seeds can only control what happens in their section of the bracket. They can't do anything about any upsets that happened in the bracket of their potential semifinal opponent.

LWE shouldnt play any road games in the playoffs. You should earn the right to host by having a better seed.

Is it really that much of a disadvantage though? I'm pretty sure ESL is dominant enough that they will be able to win games whether they're at home or on the road. If LWE is as good as you are saying they are, then all they'll care about will be the winning team when there's 0:00 on the clock at the end of the 4th quarter, no matter where the game is.

Would you feel the same way if Illinois made the college football playoffs as the top seed but had to play on the road because they should win?

I think I'm on the side of higher seed should host. I'm also strongly on the side of changing how points are awarded and we seed this thing. Look at the chaos in 4a right now. A 1 seed lost 42-0 and you have a 9v12 matchup in the quarters. Upsets happen, but I highly doubt Sullivan had any business being a 1 seed. Not all wins are created equal in the regular season. Some conferences only have 4 teams, big class difference within conference, and some teams play up big time in non-con.

Also, Bismarck-Henning ended their curse and got out of the 2nd round in 2A. They play Palos Christian. I know zero about them. Tolono/Unity absolutely rocked St. Joe in 3A. Those are a couple of CU viewing area teams moving along.

Ihsa shouls be seeded 1-32 and get rid of the north and south brackets for 1a-6a

Unfortunately the ihsa will stick to their current playoff model and cpl teams will be over seeded and blown out

The game against North Lawndale was insane last week. They had 0 shot in a supposed 8/9 game, lost 49-0 and there were more people from Byron sitting on their side than Lawndale people.

I’m friends with several cpl head coaches but I can’t admit for the most part that’s horrible football. Right now Morgan Park is the only solid program
