Rutgers losing like that, on senior day, has to be the worst loss I’ve ever seen. Reminds me of the Minnesota Vikings miracle somewhat. Even though Bryant caught the ball with nobody around him, and then ran into the end zone with nobody really even close to tackling him.
You could watch football 100 years and never see that.
Given that the clock stops on 1st downs, he could have just caught the ball, ran a little and took a dive. Illinois spikes it and kicks a much shorter FG. But running it all the way in is wow…I almost feel bad for Rutgers but bad coaching get you losses that are deserved. There wasn’t anything fluky about that play just a Rutgers defense that had no clue what they were doing.
