I can't help but think Indiana's meteoric rise contributes to Walter's instate boot... that loss stung. did it expedite the change perhaps?

The only way I’d see him leaving is if we had no support from Whitman and the university administration, or if we were continually at the bottom with NIL $ and just could not compete.

Neither of those things are true, and I think he can build something pretty amazing here - and he knows it. Let’s hope his family is happy here, because it’s going to be a fun ride if he continues doing what he’s doing, we’re very lucky to have him.

Purdue people have been saying that their deputy AD Tiffini Grimes (Purdue alum that was hired from Alabama a few months before Walters - potential successor for Bobinski?) was the architect behind hiring Walters. Something about him being a "cerebral football mind" that reminded her of Saban...OOF
I find this fascinating, if true. There are plenty of managerial responsibilities for an AD, but aside from fundraising, the only job they need to be competent at is hiring competent people. So Bobinski hired Grimes and was so invested in that selection that he let Grimes drive the football coaching choice?!!! Uh....does he fire her now?

Or is this Bobinski's way of trying to pass blame...rather than taking a hiring committee's advice he was taking Grimes' so it's her fault? That doesn't smell right. And when mistakes as expensive as the Walters hire goes as wrong as that has, why would the same people be allowed to make the same selection, again? Fire Grimes? For what, advocating a creative solution to their budget limits?

Or fire Bobinski and promote Grimes, and let her hire the next coach? I suspect she would welcome a committee's recommendation, if that's how things unfold.

Be careful what you ask for. You might just get it. Glad that Walters and the Cards got each other. They deserve each other. No slick Mercedes taking them anywhere today. Just some tickets on the midnight shame train out of West Lafayette.
And meanwhile our coach and Luke A. will be flying to sunny Orlando on a private chartered plane, soaking in all the hype of their Cinderella season while sipping fruity drinks at poolside. Sometimes things in the universe just line up as they should.

Either Mullen or Kotelnicki seem like no brainers
I think it probably ends up with Mullen. He's 52 and can do a similar comeback from an SEC firing as BB. Meanwhile, Kotelnicki is 43 and West Virginia seems like a place where the right guy can change things very quickly in a conference that lacks true powerhouses. Then, if things go well in Morgantown, he's young enough to take an elite job after that.

Is this "the midnight shame train out of West Lafayette" or the Boiler Special? Or is it one and the same? boiler.jpg

Would they really do that after the "rumored" Walters extracurricular issues? If I recall correctly, RichRod had a similar issue blow up in his face (no pun intended...) at Arizona I think it was
Let's be honest here. While the rumored extracurricular issue (by all accounts appears to be rumors of a consensual extra-marital affair) is absolutely not a good look, if he'd won 9 games this season he wouldn't be getting fired, and if he'd won 11 he'd be getting an extension.

Sounds like he already got an extension.
