can anyone fill me/some of us in on what walters did and said? i do remember him knocking our crowd size, which, fair enough (although we’ve had a rough 25 years for the most part).
The incident that was reported was that, when Illinois hosted Hudson Card on his official visit, Ryan Walters showed up outside the football facility in his fancy new Mercedes, picked Card up personally and drove him to West Lafayette for a visit. I don't know if that's the only incident, but it's one that's been made public.

I think Lincoln Riley is safe for now at USC but will have the hottest seat in the country going into 2025. Even hotter than Ryan Day.

Only thing worries me about Purdue is that they are more willing to do gutsy stuff for hiring coaches, like trying hire Kinne, Huff, or Odom with Marrion in tow. Heck I would also worry about Will Stein or Kotelnicki there too.
Hiring Walters was Purdue's hail mary, and now they're going to play it strictly by the book: hire a national search committee, interview everyone on their shortlist, and see if you can raise enough money to hire any of them. If it doesn't work out, it's the committee's fault, not the AD, president or chancellor's incompetence (like Walters turned out to be.)

Bret’s tweet was about our commitment we got today not Walters getting canned

He gone … This was decided weeks ago … Results on the field are what they are but this has as much if not more to do with how he conducted himself off the field …
I enjoyed the success while he was here all while telling myself "this guy is as arrogant as they come". So glad coach Hen didn't join the darkside, I know Walters really wanted him as DC.

They're in fantasyland if they believe they can pawn off their failure on some committee. No one buys that and I doubt they think that.

we’ll see soon enough
Well, we will see how long it takes to recover. But there's definitely the ability to turn it around in less than three years with the right coach and program. I question the administration there. Also, weren't there rumblings that their NIL was lagging?

Purdue people have been saying that their deputy AD Tiffini Grimes (Purdue alum that was hired from Alabama a few months before Walters - potential successor for Bobinski?) was the architect behind hiring Walters. Something about him being a "cerebral football mind" that reminded her of Saban...OOF

It was discussed at the time, but now with the benefit of hindsight, Walters wasn't really qualified to be a Big 10 head coach in the first place.

He gets credit for our 2022 defense that was unforgettable, magical, and I still think underappreciated nationally, but objectively it was the outlier on a very limited resume.
Just over his head....had minimal professional contacts....just not ready for the big time.....

I was just going to say, it’s a shame for Walters that he just missed the boat on the Nick Saban Coaching Rehabilitation Program at Bama.
