so is this then just conformation he won't play in the bowl?
Given he is out of eligibility and the timing of the announcement, I think it is highly logical to conclude that Bryant will be opting out of the bowl game, which should come as no surprise to us. This is in his best interest, and I am excited to see him develop at the next level. Preparing for the draft is in itself a full-time job, so I am happy he made this announcement much earlier. I want to see him continue to climb up the draft boards, as it will make Illinois even more appealing for potential high end recruits. The timing of the announcement also allows proper practice time for the bowl game for the other receivers that will still be around.

I said it after the Rutgers game, and I'll say it again.

If Illinois is a consistent 8-10 win team moving forward, that Rutgers game will be looked upon as a culture-forming win for the program. And Pat Bryant's touchdown will undoubtedly be the defining moment of that game.

He is already an Illini legend.

We were blessed to watch him grow into an NFL player right before us. He got better every season and every game. The winning this year helped but I enjoyed watching him play every game this year knowing next year it would be on Sundays.
