While they'll announce the quarterfinal hosts momentarily, I'd assume it will be Oregon in the Rose Bowl, Georgia in the Peach Bowl, Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl, and Arizona State in the Sugar Bowl.

They're actually the 12th best team according to the committee but the 4th highest rank conference champ, so that's why they get the 4 seed

The four best conference champs get 1-4. Oregon and UGA were 1-2 anyway. Boise State (9) and Arizona State (12) got the third and fourth slots. Clemson (16) has to play in the first round.

I don't really know the merits of anyone's case. But I mentioned earlier that I believe the additional teams this year minimized the need to add Alabama as a blue blood.
Each first round game has at least one marquee name. Would eyes turn in to texas Alabama than Texas Clemson? I don't think it's appreciably different.

I doubt that the conference agreement allows you to opt out of any regularly scheduled or postseason games - in any sport

Top 5 champs get in with the 5th ranked champ is treated as an in the field at large for seeding purposes. Technically, if Army was rated ahead of Clemson, they could have gotten in instead of them.
