Just another reminder of yet another thing on the line tonight! The Underwood Renaissance of 2019-20 to 2021-22 helped us get some REALLY enjoyable winning streaks vs. conference rivals that had previously had our number. While the disappointment that was 2022-23 saw some fun winning streaks vs. Indiana and Iowa come to an end, we managed to keep Wisconsin going. A win tonight would be our NINTH straight win vs. the Badgers ... that sounds quite appealing to me. We owe them that, as we have a little ways to go to match their absolutely embarrassing 15-game winning streak vs. us from 2011 to 2019. Thankfully we beat Wisconsin in 2019-20 JUST before they could tie our series record 16-game winning streak vs. them from 1979 to 1989.

Here are the overall series statistics for those interested:

Overall: ILL 118-89
Champaign, IL: ILL 71-28
Madison, WI: WISC 58-43
Current Streak: ILL 8 in a row
Last 10: ILL 8-2

I remember the good ole days of Steve Yoder coaching the bucky badgers and even before when they were a doormat in the B$G.....I think it's time to send them back there..........so , with my severe dislike for them and their coach I predict.........

Illini 85
bucky 77

bring the SFC to a high pitched roar tonight Illini Nation........let's do it ..............melt down the peecock broadcast with the Orange Wave atmosphere Paign.........................

At first glance, 7.5 points is a lot.

But, Illinois has beaten Wisconsin 8 straight times in basketball.

Wisconsin hasn’t beaten Illinois since 2019! That seems crazy to think about but Underwood has owned Gard in this matchup.

That has to be the worst start time ever for the Mizzou game. Sunday at noon. Seriously? Yuck

Random thought as I think of this game:

Are we overmatched physically? Outside of Morez, I'm trying to think of how many 'and-1' attempts we have had. Granted, taking lots of threes hinders these chances (tho early on Riley kicked his legs out on threes to draw them).

We are young. Underwood can want grit, but when you are physically out matched, grit only gets you so far. Seems NW was just too tough and banged their way to victory. Thiero for Arkansas was dominant physically. We are just more finesse.

I haven't watched a Wisconsin game yet this year, but if they are mature, "grown men" I think we will have our hands full.
It’s pretty hard to argue with that.

Indeed, it does, but not as crazy as the 15-game winning streak that they had on us prior to those 8 games.

Well I will just add one thought that I have come to expect with Brads teams.. They don't have an understanding of the old saying follow your shot. If you are going to shot 3s which is fine then you know when you release the ball if your shot is on target and should know to follow you shot as a miss will make the ball come back in your direction. Way to many time our guys shoot and then pose instead of trying to get their missed shot. Yes I understand the need for some one to get back on defense but that should not be the shooters responsibility.
I agree. You’re seeing less and less following your shot in the game today.
(I had a spirited debate about this very subject a while back.)
