Illini playing very good D , especially on Tonje.............
Nothing against Ben , but the Illini had a good spurt when he was out..........
need Tomi to hit another couple 3's..............
KJ with a good game , hitting a couple 3's and playing good D..........
it helped for Klesmit and Blackwell to get 2 early fouls................
need a Riley roar this second half...................

Whatever conversations on playing time/rotations lead Ty to determine that it was in his best interest to redshirt, save a year of eligibility and presumably transfer are kind of backfiring right now. I think he'd be a useful player for the 2024-25 version of Illinois.

If you put Riley in the starting lineup as he is far more productive on both ends than Ben, then there was no scoring at all from the bench. Put Rez and DGL in the rotation and that is a pretty good 7. Sure wish Ben could make it 8, but his defense and rebounding do not warrant much time if he is not hitting from the arc.

If Ben could make at least 3 3 pointers in the second half then I'll take it. Lol.

Interesting half. After Blackwell got his 2nd foul with 8 minutes left, WI was outscored 18-10.

Tonje averages 21 ppg. He’s held to 2-7 and 4 points.

WI only shoots 2 FTs that half. Their other high major games vs AZ/Pitt/MI/Marquette they shot 47, 22,18, 19 FTs.

IL winning Off Rebs 9-1

Feels like a game you should be winning by more than 4 points.

This offense is mind numbing tho with the amount of bad 3s. It’s nice to see Tre White hit some buckets.

I’ll give that half a C.

In Ben's Evansville highlights, he showed a decent bag including post-ups and drives. Why is he strictly being relegated to an outside shooting role?

Obviously there are more playmakers here and the competition is higher, but if his 3s aren't falling... can't he contribute in another way?

I watched a couple of games that Ben played last season. The post-ups and drives were all against middle-low to lower tiered MVC teams. Against the top dogs of the MVC, he was pretty much shut down completely.

Illini are crushing Wisky on the boards. Keep that up! At some point, the Illini’s 3pt% will tick up. Hope that Tre doesn’t feel content and take off the rest of the night.

Walt's having a rough time on D tonight and not enough O to make up for it.
Hope that changes in the 2nd

One Man Fast Break
One thing with Humichrous is that he only actually had 1 year of playing D1 at all as a track record and the team he played on sucked even within their own conference. He was a bit of a gamble in general, let alone as a starter.
