So . . . tOSU or USC for Homecoming? Rutgers for Dads Day?

Middle of the schedule again the toughest part, just like this year.

6-3 is a an achievable goal again. Get 2 wins in the non-con and boom 8 win season again.. OR MORE... lets make some big additions in the portal and strive for back to back 9 win seasons.

wish USC had to come here later on in the season when it was colder. Also don't love not having an off week after flying across the country to Washington. Felt like part of the reason we lost to Minny was the travel. No Oregon or PSU though so that's a plus.

Illinois has set Homecoming for Sept. 27 against USC

Dads Day/Foundation Weekend for Nov. 1 against Rutgers

FamILLy Weekend, which launched in 2024 with a sellout against Kansas, is set for Sept. 13 against Western Michigan

(1) Don't love the byes being so close together
(2) All Saturday games
(3) Purdue sandwiched between USC and Ohio State makes me irrationally nervous
(4) First home game against Ohio State is almost nine years
(5) Almost dumb to say this with the transfer portal unknowns but.........every game but one is reasonable to expect an Illinois win? I'm not saying 11-1, but saying each individual game sans Ohio State.

Also, Illinois has Washington and Maryland after byes, but neither of those teams also have a bye before that week. In fact, Illinois will be Washington's sixth straight opponent without a break.

The 2024 schedule looked like we would have to have be pretty aggressively optimistic to get to 6+ wins. 2025 looks like we should get to 6 wins even if we are super conservative pessimistic. Of course it's nonsense to predict head to head results right now, but I agree, it looks like we are more likely to maintain the solid momentum of this season rather than fall off in a bad way. Of course, I thought the same thing for 2023. Lets just crush it in the portal again and we can all take the offseason to enjoy what it means for Illinois football to be a top half of a top to conference in the country!

Illinois' first bye is week 7. That's two weeks later than every other B1G team. Gotta stay healthy for the first half of the season.

Also, the only team playing Illinois coming off a bye is Purdue.

Here's when various items of the 2024 schedule were set. (Unknown if it'll be the same timeframe for 2025 but it'd be nice if it's consistent.)

The 2024 schedule dates weren't locked in until the FOX Friday night games were announced.

March 21st - Week 1 Eastern Illinois game moved to Thursday.

May 22nd - FOX Friday night games announced (including Week 4 at Nebraska).

May 30th - Every Big Ten home game up to Week 3 was given a set kickoff time & TV, and all Homecoming games after Week 3 were given a kickoff window.

Ah, good call. I actually prefer getting a Friday game for exposure and extra prep time possibilities. For example, would love for the WMU to be a Friday kickoff to allow an extra day before following Indiana road game.

Pretty brutal schedule imo. Duke, USC, Washington, OSU, Indiana, Rutgers, Maryland, and Whisky. Hope for returning players, portal studs, and health. My Christmas list.

It's a pretty favorable schedule
We are replacing Kansas with Duke who just landed #1 Qb in portal. Whiskey for Michigan st., Maryland for Minnesota, USC for Michigan, OSU for Penn St. And I'll take Washington all day and on Sundays vs. Oregon. Oh ya, Indiana for Nebby. 👍 I'll go with your take for now.
