It's a good landing spot for him. Everything has worked out. A good chunk of talent was brought in when Illinois hired him. Corey is going to have a decent college coaching career based on Illinois helping him get started.

Associate HC is a totally bs title . everyone in the business knows it means nothing

it’s like being a Vice President of Underwear at a bank

besides , when you get fired cuz your team goes 1-11, with the only win against FCS Indiana St , you’re kinda lucky to get a job at any P4 school

uh , no

ignoring conference affiliation , oSu is 3x the football program that Purdue is
99% of the time it is, but this seems to be a last chance season for Gundy. He fired all of this coordinators.
I believe the title is a step down, as he was Associate HC at Purdue.

But as has previously been noted, he was already out of that job.
This is definitely a case of a job that is one step away from going back to high school if OSU fails

I believe you mean Dickert (Wash St). Interestingly, I believe that means Oregon St will face 6 new coaches next year (or might actually be 7).

I know nothing about this man, but its funny that after the brief bluster about everyone beating down the doors to coach at Sacramento State because of all the money flowing in, they hire a G5 coordinator.

I kinda feel like Washington State's best move might be to just accept reality and commit to being a Mountain West level school.

It sucks that it happened, but they can't survive in this in between world of wanting to be a P4 program without a conference.

It changes the financials and the operating model, but you can at least forge an identity and run a different type of successful athletic dept joining up with the Fresno State's and New Mexico's of the world.

Edit: after some research I realized they are kind of doing this with next year's football schedule, but even that seems like a half measure since they're apparently keeping the Pac 12 branding for some reason.

Basically he created one of the best offenses to use in College Football 25, especially with the Illini's backs hehe

But really he was in contention for P4 OC jobs with an offense that could be the next big thing. At least you can run a wicked triple option from it.

agree
kinda surprised Purdue would accept that .

it’s not the school it used to be

edit : I doubt that shirt is school sanctioned
Times have changed. When my son was in the various bands at Purdue from 2009 to 2014, , they played a song they called "Hail Fire". They always played it at the under 8:00 timeout to get the crowd fired up. The crowd loved it, the band loved it, but at the end, no matter who Purdue was playing, the whole crowd would scream "IU Sucks" (video link below). When they couldn't get the crowd to stop, the administration at the time banned the song.

As an MI Fossil, I love the Spanish inspired sound of that song and 'Hail Fire' fits Purdue well. If Purdue's admin hated that song and banned it, they would be clutching their pearls listening to 'Sweet Caroline' at West Virginia.
