Ah yes, the ol’ development league structure.

I, for one, cannot wait for every college football player to spend 2 non-counting years at JUCO, 2 years at a mid-major, and two years at a P4. Bunch of 23/24 year olds in the draft.
In my opinion this is only the precursor event to the impending iceberg. All of these legal decisions effectively challenge the idea of "What is eligibility?". Where I see this going is that eventually the NCAA is going to be challenged in court to defend itself against 1. Why shouldn't everyone enrolled in college be allowed at least 4 years of NCAA eligibility? and 2. Why should participation in any other non-NCAA activities preclude anyone from having full NCAA eligibility? And in my opinion, once those 2 things are challenged in court, they will be fairly easy victories for whoever brings those cases, because legally how the NCAA is set up, those aren't all that legally defensible. As such I see the door eventually opening up to allow pro athletes who still have NCAA eligibility to come back so long as they enroll in college. I also would not be surprised if the term limit in eligibility is also completely smashed to pieces and would instead apply for all students actively enrolled in an NCAA university regardless of time spent. And at that point the NCAA just effectively becomes a new G League.

Juco football is dead. Programs are dropping football left and right. Unless money starts flowing down to them don’t expect them to become a farm system for d1. COD is the only juco that plays football in state

Really thought that Terrance Brooks would be an immediate entry into the portal... Anyone know the story behind his lack of playing time? I believe the whispers have been attitude, more over ability, but not sure if anything definitive has been said from the coaching staff. With one year of eligibility left, one would have to assume he’s gone.

He was the our prize portal commit last year at the time of his commitment, imo. Really a good lesson to take ALL commits with a grain of salt, even ones who have proven it with big time football programs.

Not 100% positive, but I seem to recall that injuries played a role in his situation. Got to be able to practice before you can play. Might just be some bad luck.

I get that you hear the occasional story of a player that succeeds even in spite of his coaches pushing him towards another position. But I would bet my retirement fund that those success stories are at the lower end of single digit %'s..... I honestly believe that if this Spann kid had listened while here at UI he'd be in a much better place right now.

I Will is a perfect example.

Yes, he was my initial thought, he's in the League, but has a ton of work to do to carve out a spot. But I certainly believe had he insisted on sticking at QB, he wouldn't even be in the spot he's in.

Arch Manning is an example. When he went to Texas, he thought he would be playing in the NFL in 2025. Had he played at a smaller school in 2023, transferred to Michigan in 2024, he probably would be in the NFL in 2025.
Arch Manning is not an example of what you replied to. He was number 1 QB and possibly number 1 overall, not a top 20 to 40 QB. I’m assuming he’s done very well with NIL thus far. So he should have gone to App St instead coming out of HS?
