The Oregon Ducks are here today to play the Illini Women at 2pm on BTN+.They are bringing talent, size and depth - a very tough challenge, indeed. Coach Green has made it sound like Makira and Gretchen will still not be available?

The very popular Baby Race is one of the Promos for today!

Go Illini

I heard Green's interview in which she stated that those two were day-to-day and that Cook had not yet practiced with the team. I also hear Vozelli (the News Gazette writer) say that he expected both to play limited minutes today. We'll know soon.

I don't understand why Genesis is always looking to the bench when bringing the ball up.

One of these days the jump shots have to start falling. Don't they? In the meantime we are driving hard to the basket and making our
FT's. Also some tough D and a good job on the boards against a taller team. Always like it when the guards are also grabbing boards.
I really thought we would run out of gas against a deep Duck bench. Happy to see #4 back on the court and doing what she does...scoring.
Boy do we need Cookie back. Gen and Jas doing their best to fill in. Gen played so hard and logged so many minutes. Jas along with Dal working hard on D. The 22 TO's will have everyone pressing and trapping against us.
Oregon has assembled quite a roster. Some Nike NIL money at work? Will be interesting to see how they gel as the season progresses. They missed a lot of bunnies.
An important win in front of a crowd just under 5000. Let's keep it going fans. It was good to hear the cheers of support down the stretch.

The turnovers should decrease with Cooks return. Without Cook we need Bryant to do all of the ball handling, be the main scorer, and play nearly every minute. That’s asking a lot. Dolan can definitely help with the scoring. Without her I think we lose today.

Gutsy win. So happy we pulled this one out.

Adding a couple thoughts to the discussion:
-Ohio State (for one) has laid a blueprint the last few years that you can really hurt us by pressing.
-Oregon putting 6 footer Ari Long on Genesis in the second half was a heck of a matchup. Good player name for that strategy.
-What happened to their 6'8" Phillipina Kyei? Was she injured? She picked up 2 fouls, went to the bench, and then only played 8 minutes total. She was a handful for us even if she missed a few shots. For as tough and athletic as Oregon's small ball lineup was, I thought we lucked out Kyei didn't play more. Not sure all those 11 offensive boards we accumulated were on offer with her on the floor. Likewise, would Genesis have been fouled as often going to the hoop if defenders knew they had Kyei behind them?
-With our players in foul trouble, I thought it curious that Cori Allen didn't get more burn. I am always impressed by her when she's on the court. I am confident she'll compete. Obviously Dolan and Wallace, and of course Brown-Hagger, have provided offensive punch and stand in her way to minutes.
-Disappointing to see Shoup-Hill not make a bigger impact as a role player in that game. With McKenzie as our 4 for 22 minutes of game time, it takes all the guts we can muster to hang with a Big Ten team. (Not the first time we've had this scenario.)
-I was really impressed by how we defended as a team.
