Did anyone see what Morez did to earn a technical?

If it wasn't for Ayo, all we'd have left is reminiscing about the 80s and early 2000s.

Understand the need to appreciate history, but recognize greatness in the present. None of this is possible without Ayo picking us that day at the Jordan store when we were at our absolute bottom as a program.
Come on, man… you’re making a ridiculous argument. Nobody disputes that Ayo revived a dormant program, but to say he “built” the House of Paign dismisses the decades of players who did in fact build the atmosphere and mystique the former Assembly Hall commands.

Ben should be on the bench. no more than 8-10 minutes a game. If he can't do better than these other two in this game with more minutes. That is the writing on the wall.. You can almost say he played better stat wise than Booth.. But that isn't much of an argument, because it looks like they both don't belong on the floor at Illinois. This system just not the best fit for either of them. As of today anyway...

House that Ayo built? Recency really is your best friend.

Not all of us are as old as the rest.

For people my age that don't totally remember the good Weber years this program was a laughing stock and after thought for most of my life.

I apologize to the guys I didn't see play it was a tongue in cheek comment. But none of what is going on right now happens without Ayo, Brad would tell you that.

However important you think Ayo was you don't think he was important enough I promise you.

Understand and agree - but your language was imprecise and incorrect.

I get that Brad is really trying to save any shred of confidence that Humrichous might have left, but he's nearly unplayable at this point. At most, he should be getting spot minutes off the bench to get other guys rest. Similar to what we are seeing from Jake Davis.

Brad is telling the media things that show faith in Ben, but they ring hollow. On offense, all he really does is stand in the corner. Occasionally he will run from corner to corner on the baseline. On defense, he's just...not good. He gets pushed around and discarded leading to easy buckets for the other team. And we all know about the rebounding.

He still needs to play, and he has a role, but it needs to be much more limited than what has been, especially in league play. It seems to be trending correctly, hopefully the minutes distribution for Morez and Riley continues to grow.

I am a huge fan of Ayo Dosunmu.

I'd like to make the point that pre-Ayo history does matter, though. Specifically, I wonder how likely it is that Ayo would have been recruitable to the University of Illinois if the basketball program at this school had not had great success in previous decades. Perhaps Ayo was not directly impacted, or much aware of, this success. I think his coaches, family (father, grandfather, for example) and others that he listened to took that history into account though.

I would like to see the minutes skewed further in the direction of Morez , Will, and DGL. But at least it seems we're beyond the days when Ben got 30-39 minutes and Morez got scraps.

I’m a big DGL fan. The athleticism and the fight are incredibly compelling. My guy loves feasting on lower-level talent. In a different world, he’s the star of a mid-major. I’m glad he decided to stay and I enjoy every single time he jumps out of the gym.
He deserves the chance to perform against top tier talent. I'd like to see 20ish minutes a game for DGL from here on out. And I hope our coaching staff agrees.

I go back to Flyin' Illini days but I get it as far as where the program was pre-Ayo and where it is post-Ayo.

Lot of grumps on here today after a 50 point win, I got yelled at for not picking up sarcasm earlier 😁

His 1 turnover was hilariously bad. Right at the end of the game too :ROFLMAO:
