Five playoff games, five lopsided affairs. This format is a swing and a miss.
Because the power is centralized in a handful of teams. 4 was about right, maybe 5 or 6, but you can't do a tournament with 5 or 6. So they let in very good teams with those 4-6 that are clearly better than everyone else, and you get what we're seeing.

Yeah. The CFP system is designed to make sure the best teams are in the playoffs which means that some that shouldn’t be in are included too.

Under the old system PSU O$U wouldn’t have been included. Just need a way to a way to have conferences figure out who their 3rd and 4th place teams. Could have possibly eliminated IU and Tennessee

The Big 12 was a mess BYU and ASU were probably the best

Well, I made 3 picks before yesterday's game.
1. Illini would upset Gamecocks
2. Ohio State beats Oregon
3. Illini hoopsters beat Oregon on Thursday

Note-I hate Michigan so much but I hate Alabama even more-congrats to wolverines! Saban kept saying Alabama should have been in playoffs. I hope with 4 losses they drop completely out of top 25

I’m guessing that since the Rose Bowl is two Big Ten teams, Fowler and Herbstreit will spend the entire game recapping the Peach Bowl and previewing the Sugar Bowl. The Ohio State-Oregon game will basically be background noise without a SEC or ACC team playing.

Chef’s kiss this season would be a Penn State vs OSU or Oregon final. I think heads would explode in Bristol.

I'm sure this has been previously answered, but how were the quarterfinal games assigned to each bowl game? Did Oregon as the top seed get to choose their preferred site, then Georgia, etc.? If that was the case, I'd have a hard time thinking Georgia wouldn't have wanted to pick the Peach Bowl given it's basically their second home field. But Georgia is at the Sugar Bowl, which does have more of an old school feel from the bowl system where the SEC champion played an at-large team in New Orleans.

Only thing I know is that reason Georgia isn't in Peach Bowl is that CFP committee didn't want any of schools having de facto home game in quarterfinals. Which is funny because that's essentially what Texas will have in the Cotton Bowl if they beat Arizona State. Based on how the top 4 ended up, the only flip in where any one would have ended up was Georgia and Arizona State. Oregon was always going to end up in Rose Bowl and Boise State was going to end up in Fiesta Bowl since they were seeded ahead of Arizona State.
