what a terrible waste of x & o's coaching talent.
He hated getting into an airplane for an 8 hour round trip visit to see a kids parents (leave at 1pm, back at 9pm) so much that he decided to just offer kids who camped with us in June. No surprise the roster quickly fell apart and we were back to where we started, with him, 8 years later.

What did we ever do to the football gods to upset them so much?

BB on the otherhand, takes 10 hours to fly out to Oakland Ca on Chrstimas eve day to see JC Davis' folks and pitch them the new NIL deal so he will stay

We hired an alleged "football guy" AD who was only concerned with not getting in trouble with the NCAA and who was the best AD I've ever seen at hiring solely to fix the last guy's problem instead of hiring the best candidate.

Henson to Kruger - Henson was not a great X-O coach, Kruger was an elite X-O coach.
Tepper to Turner - Offense sucks? Let's hire a NFL OC.
Turner to Zook - Need a great recruiter because the last guy hated to recruit
Kruger to Self (admittedly, this one was the right hire at the time) - Needed someone who could lure big-time talent
Self to Weber - The last guy wasn't loyal. Let's hire a guy who'll only leave feet-first or if I fire him (which Guenther was reluctant to do as he consistently kept coaches around two years too long)

Yep, I was too literal with the location. I just changed that to something that seems more appropriate for at least a few more days . . .

I'm not on board for a couple of reasons; 1) that's the way to hire a replacement who has success and leaves for an Arkansas-type position so they can prove they can build it themselves, even at the highest level, and 2) He hasn't been preparing to be an administrator his entire life, he's100% been focused on being a coach. Do that and leave.

Alvarez may taint his legacy with declining performance. Why let the bloom come off the rose? Pull a Saben, be great, leave, broadcast a little so you can still get paid to attend the games.

There's a discrepancy between Winsipedia and CFB-Reference, the former of which lists our record as 642-628-50

It exists at the very beginning of record keeping, where 1890 and 1891 are not counted and wins are undercounted in 1892 and 1894

642 wins ties us with Purdue; we were 9 back of them coming into the year

That bolded part is astounding! For the old B1G teams making up "the muddle in the middle", that will normally take 3-5 seasons to catch up.

I guess tOSU beating Texas meant helped them take over territory that they had from before, as there was a game played in Ireland earlier in the season:

The 2024 Aer Lingus College Football Classic was held on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland. The game featured Florida State University (FSU) against Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech).

That piece of territory has changed hands a bunch of times this year. The idea is that if you beat a team you take all of the territory they own and at the start of the year everyone owns the territory around their school.

For Ireland it went GT to Syracuse to Stanford to Clemson to Louisville back to Stanford to Cal to SMU to Clemson to Texas then finally Ohio State.

Whoever runs it is crazy for keeping track of everything. They do it for basketball too.
