I agree- it’s ironic because side wouldn’t have put KJ on a smaller, quicker guard but it worked - it may have also been “ nobody else has stopped him” kind of approach

Felt just like Northwestern- but to have KJ be clutch down the stretch after a couple of brutal late games against NU and Tenn- good for the confidence of the whole team, Tre and Bos coming through big time as well at the end
He's not a good defender, but a great one (words of LaTulip).

I'd agree. If you really watch him, he's so much ahead of what people thought he'd be. Just in terms of not getting beat, and activity. Yes, some moments in previous games were rough but in totality... and looking at today... super impressive!

Huge to get the west coast trip over with unscathed. We are 3-1 and have a TON of fun games to come. A lot to learn and take from this game.... how to finish, clock management, how to inbound a ball, etc. But a win is a win is a win.

Go Illini !!

In the end, "a win is a win" for sure. These are college kids and it's hard. Our expectation is a lot higher since the Illini became Elite and especially after pounding Oregon--who had a nice win today.

Although clutch FT shooting was key towards the end, I do think if FTs were made during the course of the game, the Illini's lead would've been closer to double digits when crunch time was approaching, and the Illini would not have been in this situation. I think they missed the "and one" FT three times today. And I truly do not get the 3-point shots with 2:20 left in the game and up six points.

It may not be that important during the game with 14:00 mins to go with a double-digit lead, but Elite teams need to close the game out as soon as they can--like they did against Oregon.

Especially at home, Washington is no slouch--they play hard for their coach. Oregon gave up; Washington did not.

Way to go my beloved Fighting IIlini...........Great 2-0 Roadkill road trip.............ROAD TRIP !!!!!I...... I love fruitful road trips................I really really do....................

Tre White is our super glue guy.............not overlooking the bad oob play late , but when we needed some stability late he came through diving on the and driving for reverse layups......whatever we need he seems to make a big play...............

We need to enjoy every second of KJ's career as an Illini this year cause he is a guaranteed Lottery pick in the NBA draft.......he is a winner and has gonads as big as basketball as nothing seems to faze him........it's been a distinct pleasure for to watch him so far in an O & B uni........................that late drive for a layup with his left hand was ELITE......then the 2 FT's to get the lead to 4 points relived enough pressure to survive.........

Bam was on and off most of the game but showed up with FT's and dynamite defense.............

Ben and Tomi had their moments also...............

DGL solidified my opinion for B$G 6th man of the year.....yeah , it's early in the season but he is shining like a bright star........dude is a killer on his drives to the rim and loved his block on that attempted layup.....looked clean to me........................

I think our gaurds were caught off gaurd by how quick of hands Osobor has on defense. He was personally responsible for 4 or 5 of our turnovers. We hadn't run across a big man like that before. We have to be more aware that the other teams are going to try to disrupt our handoffs and short passes in screening situations.

Remember being spurned by Jase Butler after he announced for the beloved? I had completely forgotten about him until his named popped up in the box score (all 0's by the way). Anyone want to trade one of our freshmen for him? Didn't think so. Glad he is on pacific mountain time for the next three years.

I might be in the minority here, but this type of game could be the springboard for more impressive victories.

The same is true about the Oregon game, but the fact that the Illini persevered on the road without playing their best ball on the second game of the West Coast trip may speak volumes. I guess we'll see against the Nittany Lion.

Are there any team birthdays on Tuesday? (Asking for a freind)

It seems the offense is best when they play fast with lots of ball movement. It's hard to play for extended periods like that, so I do think substituting more in the second half would be beneficial.

I was happy to see that Ben put forth a lot more effort on rebounds and was able to pull down six.

There was some good that came out of this game and not so good.
Good:
Bam finally hit some layups
We have KJ
We have Tre
We won

We are great at in bounds plays with the game on the line. Sometimes consistency not a good thing.
