If we fill it every game, it would make it much easier. How many games in the last 20 years has the student section been full?

it does feel different, and there are plenty of tangible things to prove that it truly is different, but alas, we are still Illinois until we can do it two years in a row
I said this in 2000. I said this in 2002. I said this in 2008.

This next season is a critical season for the Illini football program. In each of the three years mentioned above, we were coming off of a very strong season with expectations set pretty high for the next season. In each of these seasons, we fell awfully flat. 5-6, 5-7, and 5-7 in the succeeding seasons, respectively.

Even an 8-4 season would be a major step forward for the program. An 8-4 or 9-3 record would really show that the program can follow up one season with another strong season. While 10-2 and a CFP berth would be incredible, next year is so much more about sustainability than it is about a CFP bid. I feel like the program is set up much better for that level of success now than in any of those three seasons mentioned at the start of the post. But, like @Mr. Tibbs has mentioned, we've been here before and been let down.

Guessing Indiana has us circled on their schedule too. Being unranked after the year they had will make this a big early game on their schedule.
I really don’t understand IU not being ranked. While I don’t believe they’ll be as good as this year, I don’t see them doing what Illinois did the last few times they’ve had a season like this. If I were them, I’d have our game circled as well. It’ll be a very important game for both programs.

We really need to capitalize next year and go at least 9-3. Falling to 8-4 or 7-5 would be deflating knowing this is our chance to set a new momentum for the program. With recruits, fans, donors. Time for Charlie Brown to make the kick instead of the ball getting pulled away.

“Falling” to 8-4 is a pretty big stretch. Yes, technically it’s a step down, but it would still be up there as a top 5 season in the last 25 years. Let’s just keep this winning thing going.

As we all know the Illini beat the previous year's national champions at Memorial Stadium in 2024. Wouldn't it be a good tradition to repeat that in 2025? And keep repeating it until, of course, we are the National Champions. I am kind of liking this scenario.

Sign me up for absolutely thrilled with 8-4 next year. That would be (3) 8 win seasons in the past 4 years. That's a program you can build on.
