What Big Ten Jobs could we see open this year?

Indiana is the big one

Iowa? Alot of fans are done with Fran but I think I saw his buyout is over 4 million?

Nebraska--Hoiberg about to have another down year

Does Minnesota give Ben Johnson another year?
Is a $4 million buyout really that big? Woodson's is double that I believe, and Ben Johnson's appears to be about $3 million. From what I read, Hoiberg doesn't even have a buyout, meaning Nebraska is on the hook for the entire salary in his contract (though it appears it would be reduced by whatever salary he gets in any job during the remainder of the contract period).

My point is, I don't think that buyout stops Iowa from cutting Fran loose if they want to.

Also, I think your list is good. The only possible addition is maybe Pikiell?

I wish I had a buyout clause...

Indiana … Iowa … Nebraska … Minnesota …

Indiana wants Drew … I don’t think they’ll get him … Drew’s like the private schools … Don’t see Otz leaving Iowa State and Oats leaving Bama ? That’d be a downgrade for him … Todd Golden is a name … Chris Beard is a name … But I think the dark horse here might be Chris Jans …

Think Iowa is Steve Forbes or Darian DeVries … Maybe Ben McCollum …

Nebraska … Jerrod Calhoun is a name I’ve heard for this one if they go into search mode …

Minnesota … Niko Medved …

Believe it or not … I’ve heard Pikiell isn’t safe which is NUTS to me …

A good March run and Izzo could be done I’ve heard … Same goes for Altman …

I mean... you go from what they believed to be a bona-fide natty contender (never was that way due to it being a two man team) to likely not even making the BTT.

Greatest freshman duo we've seen in a long, long time outside of schools like Duke, KY, etc .... all to nothing...

I would love this primarily because it would put the squeeze on Indiana's search. Anything that makes it more likely that Indiana ends up with a worse hire is a good thing.

What about someone like Rajon Rondo? Is he coaching anywhere yet? Tried a quick wiki search, but got nothing. IIRC, he's spoken many times about wanting to pursue a coaching career and even had many guys he's played with talk highly about his IQ and how he would excel as a coach.

I’ve been told for years it may likely be Draymond Green that replaces Izzo … As crazy as that may sound …
I believe you, but it is wild to me that someone whose career earnings exceed $200 million would choose to retire into an extremely stressful, time consuming, and less profitable job. Gotta love the work for that, I suppose. If it were me, I'd be going for a kush TV job.

Also, how is that going to work from a timing perspective? Draymond is under contract next year for $25 million, and has a player option for the next season for $27 million...if Izzo retires after this season is Draymond really going to forego $52 million to coach college ball?

If Izzo is done after this year I don’t think it’ll be Draymond … And I honestly don’t think it’ll be Draymond regardless even if Izzo wants it to be … Michigan State is an elite job … They can do better than Draymond …

Excuse Me What GIF by Bounce

Whoo boy, that could be fun. On a scale of 1 to Juwan Howard, where do we think Draymond would be on the behavior scale as a collegiate head coach???

Plus, as kind of mentioned above, Draymond is the natural Barkley replacement on TV. I mean, he's the PERFECT replacement for what Barkley brings. It's not even a discussion. He'd be bat-caca nuts to want to be a collegiate head coach.

I believe it.....never been impressed at all with Pikiell.........He's had a lot of talented players and has struggled to be anything more than a .500 program.........yeah , he took over a poor program , but never elevated RU to the level of talent that was on hand.....All i see him do is prance around the sideline clapping his hands like a cheerleader hoping for the best.....

As the other poster said , has the # 2 and # 3 ranked recruits for this class and will probably miss both the B$G and NCAA tourneys...........It's a shame that Harper and Bailey are 1 and done's and not make the Dance....it really really is.....

As I live in the Des Moines area and hear a lot of Iowa State talk, is there any job that could entice TJ to leave Ames? I would imagine it would have to be a bluest of blue blood type of position. Don't get me wrong, I'd really like to see him stay at Iowa State. Gives me a reason to make the 30 minute drive up I-35 to catch a Cyclones game or two each season. The overall Iowa State situation must be pretty good, as Matt Campbell has stayed in Ames a lot longer than I expected him to stay.

I would think Carolina would be all over TJ, but I'm not sure their admin is all that smart.

Is Hubert Davis gone after this year? I still have PTSD after a previous north Carolina coach caused a domino effect in the past so color me curious.

Also have we reached the point that Brad is getting too old to leave for a place worth leaving for or is that my wishful thinking?

I don't think the blue bloods would come for Brad at this point. But he could be part of other dominoes should a program like UNC hire TJ, for instance. But I doubt he's leaving Illinois anytime soon.

He has zero reason to leave Illinois for anything other than a blue blood at this point in time. Very few could out pay us and he's largely got this program rolling.

I am guessing that Indiana and UNC will be looking for new coaches after season end.

Kentucky search showed following had no interest in moving
Dan Hurley
Scott Drew
Nate Oates

Other hot candidates who are unlikely to move due to success at current location without blue blood pressure
TJ Otzelberger
Brad Underwood
Tommy Lloyd
Shaka Smart

Hot candidates who just moved and are unlikely to move so soon
Dustin Ford
Eric Musselman
Butch Beard

Personally I would look for somebody who is good but has plateaud at their current school
Chris Collins
Kevin Keats
Chris Beard

That's kind of my thinking. Why do you Iowa State or something that isn't a true blue blood. You have it pretty good here.

One argument is he left from Oklahoma State to Illinois after a year and I think that's a complete upgrade but even i was a bit surprised

Assuming you meant Dusty May but had the Canadian pipeline in your subconscious.
