I think the real reason is if you have a spring game, then there is a clear depth chart of 1s and 2s. Don’t play the game, no depth chart so everyone thinks their 1 st team and won’t transfer.

Seems crazy to me.... do they not have honestly discussions about their players? Practices are fairly limited in college so once your reps start dropping, it won't matter if you got snaps with the 1's or 2's in the spring game. You'd know.
in football , pretty much only frosh redshirt . hard to get the experience you need taking a year off in year 2 or 3. and if they already redshirted frosh year , they can’t do it again anyway
Exactly. That's Rhule's plan. But a kid may see that and transfer. I don't think it makes a ton of sense but I get his concern.
