Illini WBB-

Receiving votes (#28) in the Feb. 3rd AP Poll

#32 in the NET Rankings

#11
Womans BB 17-5 (7-4 conf)
Mens BB 15-7 (7-5 conf)

First time in my lifetime that women have had better record then mens team. Go Shauna!

No excuses for 2024 injuries still winning!

Inherited program that won 7 conference games in 5 years.

If she can make run in NCAA tournament she might be in running for current most successful Illini sport coach

Bret 10-3
Brad elite 8 last year
Small - won 14 of last 16 big ten mens golf titles

I know the first two are the money sports, but no one can touch Small when you are measuring success. Look again at the above, 14 out of 16 B1G championships. If Bret or Brad did 1/4 of that the statues would already be up.

Women finished with a better conference record and overall record then the men's team in her first season here.

I get the comparison though and it's exciting. Definitely more foot traffic on this thread over the last season or two. Kind of fun reading posts that were said years ago on here because so many fresh faces.

Women move off the bubble and into a 9-seed after the win on Sunday. As I said in the previous thread, we win 4 of our final 7 before the B1G tourney, and it's a question of where we're playing, not if. And we couldn't ask for an easier upcoming 3-game stretch.

Also, pretty crazy that all 4 teams in with the last four byes are from the B1G.

To be totally fair, the only coach who probably is in the conversation with Mike Small in terms of program success when you really look at it is Craig Tiley. When you think of what those two did or have done with their respective programs given their locations relative to some of the other big players for golf and tennis, it's amazing to think about.

At least in my lifetime, I have to think that Craig Tiley is the most successful/accomplished head coach Illinois has had regardless of sport. If there is anyone else, I'm 1) not thinking of that person and 2) would be wildly successful.
