Morez was a +8 in 20 minutes while Ben was a -3 in 35. And Morez committed 1 foul the whole game. Explain it to me. Someone. Anyone.
Not a Ben apologist, but anyone on the floor at the end had a huge swing in their plus minus. Wish we had used the timeout for rest around 5 minutes instead of at 8 if that was going to be the sub pattern

He was markedly improved when he came off the bench and wasn’t starting. I think it’s exactly this reason. He’s not able to play that many minutes in this league. His legs get gassed and it affects his shooting. Brad is expecting way too much out of him.
Agreed 1000%
He doesn’t offer much more than Morez or DGL. Hell even Davis to justify him playing 30+ minutes a game.
Not trying to pick on the man but damn.
BU must have something to prove with Hummer.
Not quite sure what it is.

Probably feels the same way Brad felt at Michigan State. The dirty secret about Illinois is they lead the nation in offensive rebounds, but never get called for over the back in going after them.

hardly anything new, but KJ is way too loose with the ball. it's maddening, because it seems like he hasn't recalibrated on risk/reward

other than that, he's pretty good

Yet Brad always says how smart he is, bball IQ etc.

I can't figure how he hasn't made an effective change re this 25 games in.

On the positive side. We hit 18-20 FTs and we made 39% of our threes shot; we needed every one of them. Tomi was huge, KJ was huge (except for turnovers), Boswell made some really good passes and Will was solid. At some point we have to play a 38-39 minute game! Let's start Saturday!

ucla was one of the hottest teams in the conference, and it showed. We played really good to snap their 7 game win streak.

Will Riley is looking more comfortable every game. And I really believe the best of him and Morez is yet to come.

And giving credit where it's due, BH made some plays down the stretch. He was a factor in this one.

BAM just tough as nails in this one too.

Tomi and KJ huge.

We may not be all the way there, but our elevator is going up.

Postgame interview on the radio Coach said that he should have found more minutes for Ben.

Also not taking super fast 3s on the offensive end when you got a 16 point lead with 6 minutes left
Seriously. I said this last year too. The easiest way to let a team back into a game is to miss jump shots. Last year people kept telling me we were taking good shots though. I don’t care if they are good shots. With a lead late, don’t take long jump shots.

(And today’s weren’t particularly good shots down the stretch.). I’d love to see someone make a compilation of the looks ucla got out of timeouts comparing them to the looks we got. When KJ made that long off balance 2, that was out of a timeout. I knew we’d end up with a jumper. Can’t believe he made that one.

I wonder if Whitman is as frustrated as the majority of Illini fans with Brad’s poor substitutions (or lack of) at the end of close games.

Additionally, him once again allowing us to jack up 3’s late with the lead rather than attacking the rim continues to be a HUGE concern. How the staff allows this over and over is just beyond me.
