We lose a q1 win, but huge for our BTT seeding and weakens the bubble significantly to give us more wiggle room
I was gonna say, they were 29. They will be falling. As long as UCLA doesn’t slip further, we should be ok. We don’t want too many Q1’s fall away

Wouldn’t surprise me to see Ohio State fire Diebler and get a real heavy hitter at head coach. If you win a title in football, and all the revenue that comes with that, there’s no excuse to be mediocre in basketball.

I think we all agree this is not the team we expected. We saw so much talent and so much depth. But it just hasn't happened and, to me at least, the team's evolution is puzzling. We can no longer blame the downward spiral on our youth or blend of players unfamiliar with each other. Kylan has regressed over time, illness has shelved some of our best players, Tre has now become unproductive, and KJ had fewer than 7 pts. against Wisconsin. I guess we just have to understand the team is not as talented as we thought.

I know its the way it works, but it seems so weird that if a team gets worse/has injuries/etc then your earlier win against them gets worse, or vice versa. I guess it is supposed to account for inaccuracy of rankings at the beginning of the season, but sometimes teams just change.

Those Q1 wins are what has glued this season together. To heck with the BTT. We need to keep our one differentiator in tact and that's our Q1 record. If that falls apart, we have issues.
There is zero difference between a low end quad one and a high end quad 2. Look at the bubble right now, it is awful. OSU is 15-12 with worse losses than us and they are pretty much in every bracket still.

7 seed seems very likely. I wonder who the best matchup for us could be out of the six teams above (if we do manage to get by the first game): UCLA, PU, MD, scUM, MSU, WISC.

Its hard to say since we haven't played Michigan or Purdue yet. That being said, it seems like common sense to avoid Maryland and Michigan because we don't have Morez. Wisconsin is on fire right now. So I'd take MSU, UCLA, or Purdue.

I agree. A Quad 1 win slipping to a Quad 2 win has minimal impact on the resume. Now if USC starts losing down the stretch and slips into Quad 3 loss status, then you have a relatively "bad loss". But even then, it will have no real impact on the Illini. The resume for Illinois will still be superior than the other bubble teams, which is why just winning the Iowa game likely solidifies at least an 8/9 seed. There really is no future game left for Illinois that would classify as a "bad loss", so even if the Illini were to lose out, they would still likely be on the right side of the bubble, though nobody will be feeling good if that happens.

The Illini need to get relatively healthy and start playing some sound basketball. If that happens, then the Illini can be a real scary 7/8/9 seed, though doubt is creeping in fast if that is even possible.

Michigan looking pretty strong
They really stunted MS with their moving from man to 1-3-1. Yes, I do think we should be able to at least show a passable zone defense. If Dusty can put it in during his first season and switch back and forth, we can too. We are entirely too predictable and easy to scout. The whole "we only play man" is a relic, and it isn't working. If we have an amazing man defense and want to stay with that, o.k. Again, other teams show multiple looks all the time all the time. I'll take Michigan's results any day.

The atmosphere in Ann Arbor sounds good, but Fox has a reputation of turning up the sound. It's a rivalry game so it's likely true this time. Regardless, a pretty close game. MSU 57 ,scUM 49 with 10:41 to go.
