ZERO FOR FIFTEEN

It’s been a few years, but I am hitting at least one of you give me fifteen tries. The shooting on this team needs to be studied.
Come on DB … Give yourself some cred …

I know you good for at least 5/15 of these wide open ones …
Out of those fifteen are one or two bad? Sure. But most of them are shots you have to take. They aren't even guarding you. Just go look at Ben and Ivisic shots.

IDC what needs to be done... This needs to get fixed. The game is lost right there. On their end we make the same error leaving a guy they're making us pay.

I’ve seen a lot of basketball. I’ve never seen a box score where a team was shooting 83% from 2 (15-18) and 0-for-16 from 3. Clearly, we’re not having to shoot the 3’s because of anything Duke is doing as we have 30 points in the paint.
Probably long past time for the Illini to realize they are not good 3-point shooters. And yet…

Welp. There goes the hope that somehow we come out hot this game from 3 and compete with Duke.

There also goes the hope we don’t get embarrassed on national television.

Anyone else have any other hopes?

Don’t disagree at all. Which makes the shooting display all the more sad

But at the time of his injury, who was playing better? He is the ONLY rim protector that we have and is mostly unstoppable when he gets the ball. He is the toughness that the team needs. He is the guy you can least afford to lose as witnessed during Duke game. Maybe you could argue KJ, but my vote is Morez.

Not 10 months ago, every guy on this team was selected by Underwood. He wanted shooters, he said, and this is what he managed to bring home.

These are not high school recruits. They are guys with a D1 record, on film. Underwood had to do better. This is 100.0% on him.

Not true he has stopped Flagg at the rim 2 times and others are getting beat more often. You see what you wanna see. Will and KJ were as bad as anyone on defense. Kylan was fine and I hope trey plays more 2nd half.

How does a useless husk like Ben get more minutes than Will and DGL? How?

All one has to do is not be blind and have an IQ in triple digits in order to see that good teams shoot threes well because they only take open threes...around 12-20 a game. Otherwise, their offenses are geared for guards to get switched and bury a wide open 10 footer, feed for a lob/slam, or a lay-up. This team shoots them no matter what while fully contested and sometimes blocked.

Everything about this season feels like the ultimate heat-check for a coach. From the way he handled his assistants, to the way he constructed this roster, and even the scheduling of this game. Brad thought he had everything figured out. And instead, it's blown up in all of our faces.
This game has UCONN vibes excluding the 30-0 run. If this is a sneak peak into the Illini being put in an 8-9 seeded game, no thanks. They will get their butts spanked against Auburn, Duke, Bama, Houston, and any other potential one seed.

Why is this a surprise to ANYone?? There's not a coach/GM in the world who can rebuild the entire roster on a yearly basis and not screw things up from time to time.

The obsession that some of y'all have with Benny Hum is ridiculous. I don't care how nice the guy is, he is on scholarship to play good basketball - which he IS NOT doing!!!!! He's averaging 8.7 points on 38% shooting with 4 rebounds, and 1 assist. There is LITERALLY nothing in that stat line that indicates he should be playing D1 ball, let alone starting for a top tier BIG 10 program. He's not "in a slump." He's just not good, and some of you need to accept that.
