Anytime I hear BU talk now, this is what I think.
A few thoughts....
#1, that was pathetic. No effort on energy especially on defense. I can live with the missed shots, but the defense was embarrassing.
#2, Morez/Tomi/then just pick whatever two other guys you want back (Personally would say one of Boswell/DGL plus one of Ty/Davis). Other than those few, need to build a new roster and hit on guys
#3, the people who want Brad fired are idiots. Again this collapse has been pathetic but this has happened to Izzy recently as well. Elite coaches have seasons like this. Painter has had horrible seasons in the last ten years.
#4, With that being said, this offseason is make or break for me. No reason as to why you can't build a championship winning roster. The pressure is on to have elite talent and guys who can actually make an open three
#5, MAKE CHANGES WITH A COUPLE NEW ASSISTANTS
#6, Still think they can salvage something out of the season. Morez should be back for the BTT, so win a couple of games and get into MM then see if you can win a game or two.
#7, Love this university and fanbase, but man some of the comments on these players have been horrible. Yes they are paid, but half of our team are 18 or 19 year old kids. They rhythm of this team has totally been thrown off and they have lost their mojo. Anyone who has ever played sports at a high level-this can easily happen in a season.
#8, This is probably rock bottom in terms of the last five years. Hang in there though, better days will be ahead. I trust Brad to make the right changes this offseason. Hopefully the guys this year can still string something together.

I mean.... some of the guys that are starters/play starter minutes for us wouldn't even be in the 9-10 deep at Duke.
That is literally how he opened up the press conference? With a What if... and then said he felt great about the first half....?
I sat behind the Illini bench and flew into NYC to watch and don't regret the overall experience. Sold out crowd and believe their was more Illini fans. Here are some observations.
1. Duke matched or beat Illinois' positional size, were more aggressive on defense, more athletic and more fundamentally sound.
2. Duke offense is simple, but they perfect the simple. They pick hard, very hard. They make open shots and layups. Illinois is loose with passes and dribbles. We spread the court for shooters who can't shoot. Then we do a weave because no offense is present that relies on one on one contested twos.
3. The coaching staff seems loss more than the players. Something was loss with both TA abd Frazier leaving. We now have coaches that recruit and others that strategies. BU has struggled with substitutions this year, today was very bad. Possibly his worst.
4. Seeing Ty walk around, he is a big body guard. Bigger than I expected, hoping he gets a jump shot.
5. BU just doesn't have it this year. Whitman is sharp and aggressive. Think BU has earned one more year but coaches need to change.

We are built for March...for the CBI Tournament.
These aren't headlines. These aren't accusations. These are verified physical observations.
So last year doesn't count? In the 6 seasons between his first final four and his first championship, Jay Wright had 5 first-weekend exits and 1 tournament miss. This is only Brad's 5th year since 2020 when MM was cancelled.
It's always helpful to call people who don't share your opinion "idiots."

I have made a good cash tonight. All my employees know you perform. Or your fired. I pay them a huge salary for engineering, showing up, and if my clients get hurt. I Fire. He is done! My son does physics, guys at 300mph. Single prop. I don't care, flying.

I don't get the one out of Boswell and DGL. We should be hoping for both. Same with ty and Davis.
The only players I want gone are booth and Ben. Perhaps white.
I'm hoping we can recruit after this debacle. but I'm very concerned. If you're a player I'm not sure how you look at BU and be confident that your playing time will be fairly and rationally determined.
And who exactly didn't play in that game?
Lol 100% false. They are significantly more freshman led than we are and have 2 returning pieces. They are in all essence just as brand new as we are; just way better offseason evaluation.

#3- I'll gladly take the idiot title- Watch the postgame-where was his accountability? More excuses- arrogant toward a reporter again-twice this time (this is becoming a theme). Of all games that you should start your presser with- this is unacceptable, this is on me, I'm failing this team right now.. NOTHING- all on the players, mentioned once that he has to look in the mirror.
Tell me with all honesty- how hopefully are you for the rest of this season and for the future? What do we have back next year?
It is not just about Underwood's record the last 8 years- you have to take into consideration the future when evaluating a coach... And I've lost almost all hope for this year and next. I'm tired of almost complete overhauls to our roster and consistently losing good coaches to only replace them with the Hamers and Tyler's of the world.
The fact Underwood is still piping shooting 3's and hasn't made any staff moves at this point makes me severely question his abilities.
Literally no accountability and we just lost by 43- a school record and still coming out with excuses. Hell to the no... We are better than this
